This is but one angle faf a large project in progress at Ge- neva seeking new outlets for New York fruits and vegetables. \For the past ten years, hun- dreds of tons of certain varieties oi New York State sweet cherries, notable Yellow Spanish, Napoleon, and Windsor, have been used by the preserving industry in the manufacture of maraschino-type and 'glaco' cherries because of the outstanding quality of the pro- duct obtained from the New York State fruit,\ says the statement. As the quality of the finished product depends as much upon the variety of fruit as upon the method of processing, a study of the suitability of many varieties of cherries of commercial impor- tance for the manufacture of maraschino-type cherries is under way at the Experiment Station. The exhibit at the State Fair will show a number of steps in the process of making maraschino- type cherries and will include a display of a number of varieties, How many persons now ftom m. hatchery m^S^t have been delivering Me: te,,*5? individuals in vtm^S^ me^nurliSe^lTelg Several instances have fn*n «._ Jported by hateherjr ejffiSl'cf * persons to whom, fish Welont signed for planting tat nffi waters just dumping lie tt from the cans in which toey we^ being carried into shallow S near the shore of a lalre aS applicant became very indignant when told by the hatchery 8 ^ that such.procedure would notito He insisted on doing It u, ^ w d J. n fiv 5 \atoutes had the sat- isfaction of seeing two fihirds <£ more of the fish he had just plant- ed die within sight of the shore?
