Mrs. Wilbur Dowling, who has been in New York for some time, has returned and is stopping with Mr. and Mrs. William Dowling on Oneida avenue- Mrs. Arthur Lowenthal of Roch- ester has opened Camp Reposo on Buck Island. Mrs. James G Riggs ha* re- turned to Oswego after spending two weeks here at her camp which will again be occupied by Robert Benjamin and family of New York. Mr. and Mrs. Carleton Parody and son of Warsaw, N. Y., are ex- pected tomorrow and will remain at the home of Mrs. Mae Wilkins until Thursday. Miss Molly McLenathen under- went an emergency operation for appendicitis Monday night Floyd Dow has moved from the Weston house on Sentinel road to the Jacques house on Saranac avenue. Mrs. Alvin P. Howard and fam- ily of New Orleans have arrived to occupy the Catchings camp. Thomas Pelkey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Irving Pelkey, is expected to return home today from Royal Vic- toria hospital in Montreal where he underwent an operation on June 12. He will he accompanied by his sister, Miss Hilda Pelkey, who has been with him m Mon- treal. Mrs. Louis Reggio of New York was here early in the week to spend a brief time at the home of her father, Arthur Adams. Timothy Fitzgerald spent the weekend in Albany with relatives. Simonds is leav- ing this week to return to New York after opening her camp, which has been rented. Isadore Levy of New York is occupying the Seligman camp. Dcfwitt A. Stern and family of New York is expected early in the week and will summer at the Weiskopf cottage. Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Razook and family have taken the Seeber cot- tage on Signal hill for the summer. Miss Katherine M. Hurlburt and Miss Anna V. Shepard have ar- rived from New York and opened their cottage on Hillcrest avenue. David Tobin, who has been in Boston this winter, has returned to his home here. Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Hanna of Elizabethtown were, here Tuesday night to attend the Eastern Star meeting. Mrs. Benjamin Wolf of Phila- delphia has arrived at her summer cottage at the Ruisseaumont. Mrs. Thomas George Jr. and in- fant son arrived home from the Physicians hospital in Plattsburg yesterday. Mrs. George's sister, Miss Fredonna Wilson, is visiting her. Miss Katherine Flanders has been spending the week at the Jones farm at Jay. Miss Cecelia O'Brien and Miss Helen Day were in Montreal OR Sunday. Charles Devine was in Montreal this week. Mrs. Hugh Kennedy returned Sunday after spending two weeks in Troy with her sister, Mrs. Hanrey \Wilbur. Mrs. Goodman Kelleher will spend the weekend in Glens Falls. Miss Katrina Roscoe of Platts- burg has resumed her employment at the Majestic restanrant. Irving Epstein, who graduated last week from the dental college at the University of Buffalo. Mr. and Mrs. Baird left Tuesday after spending a week at Camp Irondeqfuoit in Private Park. While here with a house party of ten guests Mr. and Mrs. Baird cele- brated their 25th wedding anni- versary. As Mrs. Potter is past matron of the local chapter, the meeting constituted her hone-coming as well as the last meeting of the current season. The Masons served the banquet which preceded the meeting and officers of the local chapter formed a reception com- mittee to greet a good representa- tion of visitors from other chap- ters. During the program there was a drill by 10 officers and at its 'close Mrs. Potter was presented with a bouquet from th# chapter. She also received a fitted traveling case, the presentation being made by Mrs. Parsons Bennett. George Thew, as worthy patron after a few words as to the character and j ability of Mr. McQuire as grand lecturer, presented him with a set ! of collar and tie jewelry. Mr. Mc- Quire expressed his pleasure in his association with Mrs. Potter and presented her with a bouquet of lilies. During the program Mrs. Anna Wilson gave a violin solo. Miss Jean Allen was heard in a piano number and Miss Claire White sang. Miss Ednah Goff re- cited two original poems. Before the program the district deputy grand officers had been escorted to the east and were welcomed by the worthy matron. After a brief business meeting Mrs. Potter and Mr. McGuire delivered their in- teresting messages. Malcolm F. Kelley of the Adirondack Community church officiating. Burial will be in Wil- mington. Mr. Hathaway, who had been in poor health for some time be- fore his death, was born in Up- per Jay August 16, 1858. He was a retired farmer and had spent the last 20 years in Lake Placid. His wife died about eight years ago. He is survived by one daugh- ter, Mrs. Emily Hale of Lake Pla- cid, who lived with him, and a brother, Culver, of Upper Jay. Rea of Plattsburg for members to see his display of peonies. His gardens are on Route 22 and he says the blooms should be at their best this week and next. RECEPTION FOR MR. AND MRS. WM. FRAYNE BOLA BOY HURT BY POLICE DOG Leo Bola, 13, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Bola, received facial injuries Monday afternoon when attacked by a police dog owned by Mrs. Irene Sturdy. One of the boy's teeth was knocked out and a gash was inflicted under one eye i necessitating several stitches by Dr. Samuel Volpert who attended him. According to the boy's mother the dog was on a long leash and jumped on Leo as he and other boys were passing near the Sturdy home. The dog is be- ing watched by health authorities for any signs of rabies. Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Frayne gave a surprise reception Friday night at their home at 16 McKin- ley street in honor of Mr. and Mrs. William Frayne who were married on May i. It was at- tended by 25 friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Frayne were the re- cipients of many useful and baau- tiful gifts, Refinements and bev- erages were served durag the en- joyable evening.
