Fritz Deisroth and Willis Reese of Hazleton, Pa., arrived here by plane Saturday and are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Pardee, III, at their camp on Lake Placid. Miss Emily Batten and Everett Thompson will go to Ardsley-on- the-Hudson tomorrow to attend an engagement party for Miss Mary Graves and Richard Harland. The latter was a former student at Northwood school. William Signor of New York Mrs. Josephine Cheeau Dies at Local Hospital Funeral services for Mrs. Jo- sephine Maria Cbeesman, 65, were held at St. Eustace Episcopal church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Sidney T. Ruck officiating. A pray- er service- was conducted previ- ously at Clark's Funeral home. Burial was in North Elba ceme- tery. Mrs. Cheesman was the widow of William Cheesman, one of the earlier business men here who died nine years ago. Coming to Lake Placid 35 years ago Mr. and Mrs. Cheesman built a large block on Main street, housing a number of apartments and a store in which they conducted a photograph, sou- venir and gift shop. Born on June 29, 1875, in West Swanzey, N. H., Mrs. Cheesman was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Page. She died Sunday morning at the Lake Placid Gen- eral hospital after an operation performed on Friday. She is survived a daughter, Mrs. Lee Rouse of Orlando, Fla.; a son Clyde of Saranac Lake and a son, Cleon of Orlando. Pallbearers were: Halsey Wood, F. S. Leon- ard, James Sheffield, Arthur Adams, William Feek and E. G. Dodds. MRS. SALZBERGER WINS AT COUNTRY CLUB WED. Mrs. D. W. Sateberger of New York had low net at the Lake Placid Golf and Country eh* Wednesday afternoon to win the ladies' handicap tournament. She stroked 84 and had a six handi- cap. They are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Tomasch who live at the Pelkey home. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Pelkey and sen, Wesley, and daughter, Sandra, have returned to their home in Plattsburg after spending three weeks at the home of Mirs. Pelkey's. parents, MT. and Mrs. Joe Call. Mrs. Call and Edward Gehr spent the weekend with them and she reports her brother, Freed Wash- bum and Mrs. Washburn both re- covering slowly from injuries re- \•' ceived in an automobile accident <m July 23rd when both were pain- fully injured. William Kehoe is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Kehoe, at the Ituisseaumont. Miss Caroline Louise Bloxham, daughter of Mrs. Caroline Blox- ham, is visiting friends in New York and Jackson Heights. Miss Anita Kerr of Springfield, Mass., is a: guest of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Otis. Oliver Kennedy, New York at- torney, is the guest for two weeks of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Shea at their home. George Martin, who has been in camp at Silver Lake, is recuperat- ing at the Lake Placid General hospital after an emergency ap- pendicitis operation. Joe Mack returned to his home in Mamaroneck Saturday. Donald Carter has returned to his home at Lake Placid after spending two weeks in town with his grandmother, Mrs. Mary Borden. Mr. and Mrs. John J. Leonard of Philadelphia are arriving tomor row for a week's stay. Community Church Notes Dr. Charles R. Erdman of Prince- ton, N.
