The next meeting of the Com- munity Demociatic Club will be held at 8:30 p. m. May 16 at the Farmingville Fireball. Dom- inic J. Baranello will be present to install the new officers. A buf- fet supper will be served. FIRE DEPT. On May 3 this area suffered its first major brush fire at 2 p. m. in the area south of the Brook- haven Disposal Plant. The fire spread South , South-East toward the North Patchogue nd Medford area. Chief John Keible on arrival at the scene of the fire discovered its rapid advance and called the North Patchogue and Medford Fire Departments for mutual aid. The combined fire departments under the direction of Chief Kei- ble first protected the homes that were threatened by the fire. The fire was brought under control in three hours. The Fire Department has need of additional volunteers. Men who are home during the day are es- pecially needed. The Holtsville-Farmingville Fire Department and the Drum and Bugle Corps marched in the Loy- alty Day Parade at Selden and Centereach last week. This is the first occasion that the firemen have had to wear their new regu- lation dress uniforms. NIGHT OF MUSIC Mrs. Henry Bahnmuller , chair- man of the annual Night of Mu- sic , announces the following talent to be presented May 20 at the Farmingville Fireball : Vocalists , Erika Herfel , Rita Hazard. CIVICS The Farmingville-Holtsville Civ- ic Taxpayers Association held a special meeting Friday for a dis- cussion of street lights. Willard Keddy, councilman , spoke of the costs of having street lights and of extending the area of street lights to all of Holtsville and Farmingville. With lights being extended to the entire area it is no longer necessary to sign pe- titions. James Reilly of the Allied Cadets discussed the need of adult workers in order to establish a branch of the cadets in this area. Walter Kiernen , attorney for the Civics , was also present at the meeting. CHURCH The Farmingville-Holtsville Con- gregational Churc h holds worship service at 10 a. m. The Church School meets at 11:05 a. m. Mon- days at 4 p. m. the Senior church membership class meets and on Tuesdays at 4 p. m. the Junior church membership class is held. The Bible study group meets at 8 p. m. Wednesday. The Rev. McLoughlin conducts the course in Bible study. The Senior Choir rehearses Friday nights . All meet- ings are held at the church. The Rev.
