Heidelberger , archi- tect , a resident of Garden City and Bellport , was recently elected by the American Institute of Ar- chitects to the rank of \Fellow \ of the College of Fellows of the AIA. He will receive this high honor of the architectural profession at the investiture ceremony of the College of Fellows , held during the National Convention of the American Institute of Architects , in Philadelphia , April 26. This honor is bestowed on those mem- bers who have made a significant contribution to the advancement of the profession of architecture. Mr. Heidelberger is a past president of the Long Island So- ciet y Chapter , AIA , a former di- rector of the New York State As- sociation of Architects , and has been a director of the Long Island Chapter for many years. He was appointed by the regents of the University of the State of New York in 1954 to the State Board of Architectural Examiners and is a member of the AIA — New York State Association ' s Regional School Building Committee and Education Committee. His architectural practice on Long Island has involved the de- signing of a wide variety of buildings including school and college buildings , bank and office structures , hosp ita l , institutional and public buildings. BHS Teacher Wins Math Stu dy Grant The University of Rochester this week announced the award of a National Science Foundation grant to Richard W. Stock , math- ematics teacher at Bellport Hig h School , for advanced study at the University of Rochester Summer Institute in Mathematics. Designed to \ strengthen the subject matter competence of the secondary school teacher of math- ematics to broaden his perspective and to renew his enthusiasm for the subject , \ the University of Rochester Summer Institute will offer work in probability and statistics , calculus and modern mathematics. Women Voters ' Unit To Attend Session Of Nassau Dist. Court A committee representing the League of Women Voters of Bell- port will attend a session of the Nassau District Court in Mineola today. Members of the committee will be given an opportunity to ques- tion the clerk concerning this type of court system , which in this state has been tried only in Nassau and which is presently un- der consideration for Suffolk. This trip has been planned as part of the state league ' s six-year- old program of study and possible action on court reform and will add to the local league ' s portfolio of facts and figures to be present- ed as a public information service before the November referendum on this subject. Mrs. Stanley Seltzer , court re- form item chairman for the local league , will head the delegation , which will include: Mrs. Michael McKeown , former court reform chairman; Mrs. Lawrence Cum- mings. On May 20 , the Cubs ' soapbox derby will be held. The latest rules for this event are : Ball bear- ins; wheels are acceptable. Cubs' can have help building hot-rod. Cub must be able to steer hot rod. Time: 2 p. m. Place: Intersection of Shoi e Road and Academy Lane. The pack will have its annual outdoor p icnic at 3 p. m. June 18 on the beach at the end of South Howell' s Point Road. Cubs should get their kits built for the minia- ture races which will be held that afternoon. These must be regula- tion and according to rules on the kit. There will be i training course for all Cubmasters and assistant Cubmasters , Den Mothers and Den Dads at the Cherry Avenue School , West Sayville at 8 p. m. May 16 and 23. No-Only Cubs and Tom-Toms Plan Door-to-Door Student Fund Drive In Central Dist. 4 The committee for the Central District 4 scholarship drive met Mondav to p lan a student door-to- door canvass for funds , which will take place May 20 fro m 9 a. m. to 12 noon. On the committee are Thomas Murphy, North Bellport ; Mrs. Ar- thur Murray, Hagerman; Mrs. Claire Pongonis , Brookhaven; and Charles Boulin , Bellport ; and Mrs. Phillip Merriam , East Patchogue. In charge of organizing the students will be Russell Hanscom , Peter Capizzi and John Gorman ; kitchen. Mrs. Robert Spence and Mrs. Mae Deems; publicity , Stan- ley Rabin and Mrs. Joseph Leddy. Following the drive , the students will be served refreshments in Bell port High School.
