Van Horn , president of the School Board of Central District 4 , as- sisted by Mrs. Eileen Sears , vice president; and Dr. Erwin Ding- man supervising principal of the district spoke on the school budget at the Citizens Council meeting May 10 in Bellport High School. They presented facts and fig- ures about the recently defeated school budget and described steps taken to reduce the budget before presenting it to the public for another vote in the near future. The proposed budget has been reduced by about $28 , 000 , which would lower the proposed tax rate to about $10.28 per $100 of as- sesed valuation. Big factors in the high tax rate was the reduc- tion of the state equalization rate from 28 to 22 per cent , resulting in less state aid and increases in teachers salaries. Blair Munhofen , president of the council , continued with the business of the meeting. New members electe d were Mrs. Jero- me Hudis , Thomas Carr and Mrs. Thomas Iarocci of Bellport; and Daby Carreras of East Patchogue.
