It was voted to dispense with the monthly meetings in June and July. The next monthly meeting will be held August 2 at the Le- gion Hall. A discussion was made to hold a sale of household items of in- terest. These items will be donat- ed by the members. Mrs. Keck has agreed to hold the sale in front of her home. No clothing will be included in this sale. It was stated that Mrs. Keck had taken 222 magazines to the County Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Florence Mercer was the birthday celebrant of the month. Reads Day Camp Set to Enter 1 4th Season July 5 Entering its fourteenth season July 5 will be the County Day Camp, which is operated by Mr . and Mrs. Henry Read on the spac- ious grounds adjoining their home at 468 South Ocean Avenue, Pat- chogue. Mr. and Mrs. Read said the camp, which has been growing steadily each Summer since it was opened in 1949 , handles children from four to 14 years of age. Bus transportation is provided , the children being called for at their homes , and brought home at the end of each day. Many facilities are provided at the camp, including hoi'seback- riding. The camp will follow its usual varied list of activities this year. The swimming program , featuring Red Cross qualified swimming instructors , centers largely around Patchogue ' s Mun- icipal Swimming Pool , which is less than two blocks from the camp grounds. Maintaining that the camp \ stresses a safe , non-fatiguing, happy program , \ Mr. and Mrs. Read said that the children are di- vided into groups , according to age , and are under the care of 22 supervisors. Mr. Read is athleti c director at Seton Hall Catholic Co-ed Hig h School , with which he has been associated for over 20 years. Mr. and Mrs. Read are themselves the parents of 11 children , ranging up to 24 years of age.
