Bay Avenue PTA Sets Officer Installation Tuesday at Its Dinner Mrs. Claire Meyer will be in- stalled as president of the Ba\ Avenue School Parent-Teacher As- sociation for the 19(50-61 season Other officers to be installed are : First vice president (program chairman), Mrs. Doroth y Smith ; Second vice president (ways and means), Mrs. June Salinas; third vice president (publicity), Mrs. Elizabeth Judelson; corresponding secretary, Mrs. Mildred Avery ; treasurer , Mrs. Ruth Hutton. Mrs. Esther Siege] will serve as mem- bership chairman for the coming year. Mrs. Meyer and her fellow offi- cers will be installed at a catered dinner to be held in the school caf- eteria at 7 p. in. Tuesday. Tickets can be obtained through the school. The entertainment for the night will be provided by the Bay Avenue School Glee Club under the direction of Miss Margaret Locklin. Conference Will Push Hi gher Education on LI The Citizens Committee for Public Colleges on Long Is- land and sponsoring groups have arranged an all-day planning con- ference and workshop dealing with the unprecedented population growth and its impact on hi gher education on Long Island. The meeting is scheduled to start at 10 a. m. May 25 at the Long Island Agricultural and Technical Institute , Knapp Hall , Melville Road , Farmingdale. It will include workshops , a luncheon and a lounge assembly. Many promin- ent educators will be present. The Holtsville-Farmingville Fire Department held its annual dinner and installation of ortieers at the Br* .j Haus in Medford last Satur- day. This month , the department will also celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of the combining of the Holtsville and Farniingville Volunteer Fire Departments . The annual inspection by the board of commissioners was held. The board is elected by the taxpayers of the fire district and is responsible for all the fi re fighting' equipment. The present members of the board are Elmer Fogerty, chairman; Ernest Tingen , Lester Crawford , Walter O'Brien and Arthur Read . Jr. Following the inspection , the in- stallation of officers took place. The invocation was given by th e Rev . John M. McLoughlin , pastor of the Farmingville-Holtsvillc Congregational Church and de- partment chaplain. John Hancock , president of the Suffolk County Chief' s Council. was the master of ceremonies and administered the oath of office to the new officers. Former Chief Daniel DePierro was presented with a watch by the department in appreciation of his two-year term as chief. Mrs. DePierro was presented with a bouquet. Honorary members present were : Edward Nye and his wife and Anthony Gibaldi and his wife. Representating other fire depart- ments at the installation were : Chief Francis Gillette and First Assistant Chief John Blaum of North Patchogue; Chief John Con- den and Captain Robert Mistier and their wives of Medford ; First Deputy Georg e R.
