Thoughtless town residents, who find dump ' s gate locked after 7 n-m., are believed largely responsible for condition. —Photo by Gomez By John Clark MORICHES — Filthy conditions at the town dump on Yaphank- Moriches Road were brought to the attention of The Long Island Ad- vance last week by a Manorville resident. Acting on the resident' s advice , The Advance paid a visit to the area for a firs t hand look Thurs - day. Mottles , paper , furniture and other debris had apparentl y been discarded along the road outside the dump. Shredded paper and rags which had blown from the all but un- enclosed dump festooned bushes over a large area. The onl y ap- parent separation between the dump and road was a cyclone gate about 20 feet in length. John W. Ready, Jr., Brookhaven Town sanitation commissioner , in a statement last Tuesday told The Advance that it had become neces- sary to limit the hours during which the dump ' s gate was open. The area , he exp lained , was be- coming a catch-all for garbage hauled f rom all over Suffolk and as far away as Nassau County. Commissioner Ready said he hoped that residents would learn to use the dump during the al- loted hours, now 7 a. m. to 7 p. m. Anyone caught depositing garbage outside the gate will be subject to a summons , he stated. CENTER MORICHES NEWS Mrs. Alfred K.
