WOMAN'S CLUB The Moriches Woman ' s Club , Inc., held an executive board meet- ing at 1:30 p. m. May 23 at the St. John ' s Episcopal' s parish hall on Railroad Avenue with Mrs. W. The Rosary Altar Society of St. John ' s R. C. Church will hold its regular monthly meeting at 8 p. m. Monday at the barn , to be followed by devotions at the church. Mem- bers are reminded to fulfill their monthly obligation of receiving Holy Communion in a group at the 8 a. m. mass , Sunday . The Rosarians are planning a furniture and rummage sale for June 24 and a cake and religious articles sale after masses on June 25. Proceeds of these combined sales are to be used to defray costs of all materials purchased for the altar in the new auditorium. ST. JOHN'S DAN CE The final meeting of the dedica- tion dance and journal committee of the St. John ' s R. C. Church on Ocean Avenue was held last Thursday night. It was brought to the attention of the committee that all journal business must be con- cluded by Saturday. The dance will be held in th e new auditorium from 9 p. m. to 2 a. m., June 17. There will be two musical groups supplying the mu- sic for the night. The Syncopaters and the Swinging Shepherds. Tic- kets , which include admission and buffet , are on sale now and can be obtained from any member , or at Center Moriches Cleaners , Zar- cone ' s Meat Mai v ket , The Blue Lantern or at the Rectory. Liquid refreshments will be available at a moderate price. Tea hostesses were Mrs. Josiah Roberts and Mrs. Martha Herr- mann , Sr. There will be an execu- tive board meeting and luncheon at the Three Village Inn , Stony Brook , June 20. The annual meeting of the club will take place June 27 for election of officers followed by a program of colored slides entitled , \Our Dreams Come True , \ the time and place to be mentioned at a later date. The club is th ankful for the many members and friends who helped make the May 17 benefit luncheon a success. It was held at the St. John ' s Episcopal Church in Center Moriches and the sum of $100 was turned over to the local scholarship fund. East Moriches News Items Mrs. Gordon G. Dr. and Mrs. Arthur Frender of Brooklyn recently visited at the home of Dr. Frender ' s mother , Mrs. Irene Frender , and his sister , Mrs. Grace Davis , of East Main Street. Mrs. William C. J. Emory and daughter , Dawn Marie , of Anna- polis , M-d., have just returned home after a two-week visit with Mrs. Emory ' s parents , Mr. and Mrs. George Mueller. William C. J. Emory and Willis ^Emory were weekend visitors to the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Mueller. Mis. Walter Kanas gave a sur- prise stork shower for Mrs. C. J. Emory. The final meeting of the Home Bureau was held at the fireball last Tuesday. Final p lans were made for the annual outing to Land' s End in Sayville. A group from the East Moriches Bureau went to the Extension Service Achievement Day at Mastic Beach. Miss Martha Klose , a laboratory technician at Sea View Hospital , will be visiting Miss Julia Raynor of Montauk Highway next week- end. Miss Klose ' s fatner was at one time pastor of the East Mo- riches Presbyter-ian Church. A dinner for Boy Scout and Cub Scout officials for the Peconic Bay area was held at the Elk' s Club at Southampton last Tuesday. Those from East Moriches who attended were George Mueller , Arthur Bu- dick and Harry Huson. Mr. Budick and Mr. Huson were presented with the Scouter ' s Spark Plug award during ceremonies follow- ing the dinner. This award is giv- en to those who have contributed to the continuance of Scouting in their area by their long ser- vice and enthusiasm. A. A. Brian Hawkins , now sta- tioned at NATTC , Memp his , will be home on two weeks ' leave this week. After his vacation he is expected to go to a new station on the West Coast. The East Moriches Presb yterian Sunday School will close June 18. Miss Norma Benjamin has re- turned home after spending the winter at the home of her brother in Harvey, 111. The Woman ' s Society of Chris- tian Service of the Methodist Church will hold the first of four bake sales at 10 a. m . Saturday in the village. Mrs. Ramona Nathan has re- turned home after an 11-day stay in the Bayview Hospital. She is convalescing after an operation. The Men ' s Club of the Metho- dist Church held a successful roast beef dinner in the church basement Saturday. The men did all the cooking and serving and were as- sisted in the kitchen by their min- ister. Mr. and Mrs. Howard E. Welch have returned home after spend- ing a week in Lakewood ()., who ie they visited Mr. Welch' s brother- in-law , Joseph Ouellet. GIRL SCOUT NEWS Troop G4 , senior Girl Scouts , held its last official meeting until September , May 24. Those attend- ing were Carol Keck , Ellen War- ner , Susan Morrison , Elaine Mac- Corkindale and Kath y Reeve. Re- freshments were seived by Ellen Warner. SCHOOL NEWS A field day was held on the school athletic grounds May 25 sponsored by the Athletic Associa- tion of the East Moriches school. The entire school body was divid- ed into the red team , captained by Andrew MacCorkindale , and the blue team , captained by John Do- brie. The children partici pated in 75 , 60 , 50, and 30 yard dashes , also sack races , three legged races , baseball throws , horse shoe pitch- ing and broad jumps. At the end of the event the red team led with a score of 115 as opposed to the blue team ' s score of 94.
