Bouncing only twice , the ball I oded into a pai king field ovei 270 feet away from home p late. By the time \ the Porter outfield- ers l ecoveied the ball , Savarese wa- on hi- way home with a stand- up grand-slam homer. The inning didn 't end here. Ed Miller then singled sharp l y to centei field. Joey May then sent hol'in- ' first pitch soaring over the head of the Poiteis ' left field- er , 1 ippy Follennis . This duvt also reached the same parking lot a- this ball I oiled undei a bu and two cais befoie being re- ce>\ ered. Foi innately, this barrage end- ed heie. An eu ror then p laced men on second and third. Follenius then walked to load the bases. How evei Savarese squelched the rally b y -hiking out a pinch-hitter and fencing a second pinch-hitter to giound out. This was the closest the Po hnV ever came to scoring as the strong-ai m pitching oi Sava- rese held the Poiter batsmen to only two hits throughout the en- tire contest. So , for onl y the second time this year, the Porters w ere shut out. This loss brought Bayport' s re- coid to a disappointing 5-10 mark. In non-league action the team has a .500 percentage with three victories and thiee defeats. However , its many losses in league p lay have forced them in- to a fifth place position in a six team league.
