May 20 and immediately following the annual dinner was held at the Medford Brau Haus. Medford. The invocation and benediction was given by the Rev. Richard Gray. Frank Rianca, chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners , ac- ting as master-of-ceremonies , wel- comed the firemen and their wives and introduced guests and spea- kers , Jake Baczensk y of Coram a n d George Wagner. Special guests were honorary firemen and thur w.vcs . Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Merchant. Mr. and Mrs. George Wagnei of Yap hank and officers and wives from neighboring fire departments. J . After dinner the chief awarded gold pins to a group of men for their long and active service. The awards were as follows : 35 years , John Davis and William Lewin; 31 years , Charles Kollett; 30 years . Merton Kinney; 25 years , Leroy Spillett , Sr., and Abert Da- vis; 24 years , Pat Raimond; 20 years , Stanley Kazel , John Hoeff - ner and Josep h Hololob. Mr. Kin- ney and Mr. Davis both received lighters along with the pins. During the proceedings , the Yap hank Fire Department was called out on mutual aid for the fire in Manorville. Chief Davis , Assistant Chief Kazel and acting Captain LeRoy Sp illett . Jr., along with several other members of the visiting departments, rushed to the lire. On May 25, the department was called out again on mutual aid for a fire that thieatened several houses , along with the Gordon Heights , Medford, Biookhaven and Coram departments. The Ladies Auxiliary partici pa- ted by making sandwiches and coffee for the men , most of whom had not had a chance for supper. The district owned ambulance had its first call May 21 , when an automobile accident on Yap hank Avenue and Long island Avenue required the ambulance to trans- port the injured boys to Brook- haven Memorial Hospital. The am- bulance was driven by Chief Da- vis. The ambulance is for the use of all the residents of Yaphank who require it. Herbert Faust has been in charge of the arrangements for the ambulance so far , along with Adolp h Frietag, who is treasurer for the Ambulance Company. Arrangements are being made for the annual clambake ; anyone wishing tickets contact any fire- man. Improvements on the fh'e house are being made with the addition of new aluminum windows. CHURCH NEWS At St. Andrew ' s Episcopal Churc h , Sunday services will be Holy Communion and sermon at 9:30 a. m. and Church School at 10:30 a. m. A work session will be held in the parish house at 7:30 p. m. Wednesday. Confirma- tion class will be at 9 a. m. Saturday, and a work session on the parish house at 10 a. m. Holy Trinity Lutheran Church holds service at 9:30 a. m. Sunday, and Sunday School at 11 a. m.
