Reese Water Authorit y, HH Contract Is OK'd By County The Board of Supervisors Mon- day approved a contract between the SuftV k County Water Au- thorit y and the Harbor Hills Es- tates , Inc. whereby the authority will pui chase the water supply system of the development for $68,000. The resolution stated that \the acquisition will constitute a sub- stantial advance in furtherance of policy of the authority for con- tinue d ' expansion of its water sup- nlv system and its seivice to the inhabitants of the county. ' ' The contract is still to be ap- proved by the Water Resources Commission and the Public Ser- vice Commission. Opposed to the passage of the resolution was Mrs. Winifred Nie- gocki of East Hills. Both East Hills and Harbor Hills are new developments in the Port Jefferson area. Mrs. Niegocki described the pro- posal as an \injustice to residents of the East Hills Water District , and a benefit to the Harbor Hills Estates and the Water Authority. \ Mrs. Niegocki said the authority should buy the East Hills Water District where the residents now pay a water bill and a water tax and receive \ rusty \ water. David Glickman , counsel to the authority, stated the authority can only purchase where the returns will be sufficient to justify opera- tion. There are only 50 houses in the East Hills district. A five-year lease was signed with this district last November for the use of its pipes. August Stout , Jr., Brookhaven Town Supervisor , told Mrs. Nie- gocki that the town board felt that it had \ worked out a good deal\ when it approved the contract , and that the Board hoped the ar- rangement might hel p the water authority to take over the East Hills district eventually. In other business at Monday ' s meeting, Brookhaven Town leased from the county a five-acre strip of ocean-front land , known as Cupsogue Beach , just west of Moriches Bay, for the sum of $1 per year. The beach , now owned by the count y, has been operated as a public beach and parking lot. By the terms of the contract Brookhaven now assumes all main- tenance expenses. Th-> area is presently zoned \C re si- dence , with a request being made by Terrel and Son Inc., to chtnge it to \J2\ business , to be used for a housewrecking business. A letter was being sent to the town board stating the opposition and personal attendance at the board meeting- Tuesday was uiged. It was decided that the executive and regular monthly meetings will be held during the Summer months.
