Sunday wi th the cooperation of the Metropolitan Inboard Ra- cing Association , Inc. Ray Smith- of Center Moriches is chairman of the regatta. There will be four classes in hydroplane racing consisting of the 145 , 150 and 280 cubic inch classes and the ski racing runabout. There will be two heats ' in each class with a distance of five miles per heat. The regatta will be sanctioned by the American Power Boat As- sociation. The course will be set for one and two-thirds miles or four laps. Among the top racing drivers of Long Island in the 280 cubic inch class are M'ike Santiago of Farmingdale ; Wess Carman of Freeport , and Arnold V. Boyance of Massapequa , New York State champion of Region Two , second highest point winner at Rehobeth Beach , Del., setting a new world record in five-mile competition of 78.4 miles-per-hour , defeating the record of 72.2 miles-per-hour and coming home with seven trophies; Kenneth Siegel of Merrick , Chuck Blume of Island Park , and Mike Thomas of Harvey Ceaders , N.J. A new class will be displayed. It is the Junior \Gold Cuppers \ inboard seven cubic inch , three and one-half horsepower. The young- sters range from eigh t to 14 years of age , and will be in their first racing.
