Friday Evening ' til 6 p.m. ; Closed Wed . morning j Wealth of Old Pictures Seen In Morse Book at Library BELLPORT — Now on exhibition in the Bellport Memorial Library display cases are pages from the book compiled by the late- George P. Morse of Brookhaven and loaned by his wife , Mrs. Ruth Morse. Air. Morse had worked for a number of years gathering together • < • • copies of old pictures and docu- ments concerning the history of Brookhaven . After his death , his wife comp leted the book. Air. Morse not only had a great many old pictures copied , but ' he did a great deal of research into the history of the buildings and fami- lies. There are p ictures of some of the old Coast Guard houses at Smith' s Point , as well as the old hotel noted for its shore dinners. Albert Selover is p ictured with his butcher wagon which went from door to door for his sales. \Big \ Tom Ellison , who was born in 1806 and died in 18G7, is p ic- tured , as well as his house and horse , Lad y Bates. There are p ictures of the old schools and churches as well as the Carman Mill (1730), which was torn down when the now Sun- rise Highway was constructed. The history and p ictures of the Miller homestead and of George Aliller are interesting. The old Rose homestead on Beaver Dam Road is shown and there is an old will , dated 1757, in which the man g ives hi.s Negro slave to his son and nine sheep to his daughter. Aliss Florence Crowell , chairman of the Archives Committee of the library, stated , \Wc are very grateful to Airs. Bellport Brownie Troop 81 held a Mother-Daughter Fly-up dinner at the Sunrise Restaurant , Center Moriches , June 15. The Flag ceremony was con- ducted by Denise Dubois and grace was given by Mrs. Alfred Curcio , assistant leader , before the din- ner . At the Fl y-up ceremony, follow- ing the dinner , the scouts were given their wings by Mrs. Curcio . The girls then crossed over a flower-decked bridge to receive their Girl Scout pins from Mrs . Ernest Kan , their leader , and Mrs. Edwin Nystro m , Nei g hborhood chairman , shook hands with the scouts and extended her congra- tulations. Mrs. Louis Scafidi , com- mittee member , presented them with the Girl Scout Handbooks. The Candleli ght ceremony fo 1 - lowed the pinning of the scouts , after which Girl Scout songs were sung to close the evening ' s pro- gram. Haven Churc h BROOKHAVEN—The Women ' s Association of the Brookhaven- South Haven Presbyterian Church will sponsor a card and dessert party at the church' s Carriage house here in Brookhaven at 8 p. m. today. Although the capacity is limited to 18 tables , it is expected that a few tickets will be avail- able at the door. The entertainment will begin with the serving of homemade cakes and coffee , followed by the card tournament with prizes awarded at each table for high point player , and a special award of food delicacies. Proceeds from the event will be contributed to the church' s fund for i-estoring the Old South Haven Church , a building recentl y moved to Brook- haven and being readied for occu- pancy in September. The minister of the church , trie Rev. Charles A. Kellogg, also an- nounced that Sunday worshi p ser- vices will be held at 10 a.m ., in- stead of the more customary 11 a.m., during the month s of July and August . Jonathan G. Sherman , blessed and dedicated the new paiish hall of Christ Church here in Bellport j last week. Some 250 peop le participated in the event which took p lace at 9 p. m., June 20 in the new hall. Immediately after the ceremony a reception was held for the bishops and the parish. The dedication ceremony follow- ed the administration of the sacia- ment of holy confirmation in the church by the bishop. A class of 16 was confirmed , and one person was received from another branch of the Holy Catholic church. Members of the class from Bell- port include John II. Brown , »April Marzola , Melod y Marzola , Dean McChesney, Susan Petretti , Madeline Tiro , Alan Sparrow , De- borah Van Dervoort , Sheryl War- burton , Elizabeth Warburton , Frederick W. Strybing, Christo- pher Streit , Edward D. Speivy, III , and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Gulibon . The first communion of the con- firmation class was held at the earl y service Sunday.
