NOTES ON NUPTIALS SINGLETOX-VAN ALEN The First Methodist (Old Stone) Church in Key West . Fla., was the scene of the wedding of MSss Charlotte Ann Van Alen , daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad B. Van Alen of Key West. Fla.. and Bell- port , to Ronald Francis Sing leton , son of Mrs. Elizabeth Singleton of Kev West , at 6 p. m. June 17. The impressive double ling cere- mony was perfoimed by the Rev. James E. Singleton of Shelbyville , Tcnn., the bndegioom ' s brother. The church was decorated w ith floral arrangements of white stock , white chrysanthemums and white gladioli and white candles in standing candelabra . Palms banked the altar. The family pews were indicated with white rose- buds and step hanotis blossoms gathered up into white satin bows. Mrs. Everette Rivas was organist and Mrs . Leslie P. Huey, a class- mate of the bride ' s at the Univer- sity of Mtianri , was soloist. The bride was escorted to the altar and gn en in marriage by her father. She w ore a gown of white silk organza and Chantilly lace. The basque bodice had a miniature scalloped scoop neckline of Chantilly lace which also for- med the three-quarter length sleeves. The long, bouffant skirt had a lace flounce app li qued com- pletely around it and the lace flowed into a chapel-length train. Her veil of nylon net was finger- tip and cascaded from an aurora borealis crown with crystal pen- dants. Her only jewelry was a sin- gle strand of graduated pearls , a <$>gift from the bridegroom- She carried a spray bouquet of gold and wine-colored orchids. ' The maid-of-honor was the bride ' s sister , Miss Roberta Van Alen , of Yuma , Ariz. She chose a yellow silk organza with a square neckline , cap sleeves , satin cummerbund and a semi-sheath skirt. She carried a bouquet of yellow , long-stemmed roses. The bridesmaids were gowned in dresses designed like that of the maid of honor ' s , but in varied pas- tel tints. Their cascade effect bou- quets were of carnations tinted to match the attendant' s gowns. Mrs. Joseph Howell wore orchid , Miss Audra Barker , green , Miss Ph y llis Palmier , rose , and MSss Phyllis Deich , aqua. Stanley Singleton was best man for his brother. Groomsman was George Almeda of Key West. Ushers were Robert Southwell , Jacksonville; Pete Melo , Miami: and Wlliam Pierson , Gainesville , Fla.. all Pi Kappa Phi fraternity brothers at the University of Florida. Following the ceremony, a re- ception was given for the newly- weds at the Sun and Sand Beach Club and Restaurant. Mr. and Mrs. Singleton left for a honeymoon in Nassau , Bahamas. They are now residing at 1000 Johnson Street , Key West. The bride attended the Key West High School. She was graduated from Bellport High School. She attended the University of Miami for two years and the University of Florida at Gainsville , for a final two. She was graduated from the University of Florida with an A. B. in education. The bridegroom was graduated from the Key West High School. At present , he is majoring in electrical engineering at the Uni- versity of Florida. He is a lieu- tenant in the Senior ROTC and a member of Pi Kappa Phi fra- ternitv. In the autumn , the couple will return to Gaines* \ ille , Fla., where Mrs. Singleton will teach and Mr. Singleton will continue his educa- tion. OLSEN—WRIGHT Miss Shirley Anne Wri g ht , daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tuthill of Bliss Street , North Patchogue , became the bride of Hans Edward Olsen , son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Olsen of Carroll Avenue , Lake Ronkonkoma , in a wedding cere- mony in the First Baptist Church of Patchogue at 7 p. m. Friday. The Rev. John E. Southard of- ficiated. The bride and bridegroom exchanged rings. The church was decorated with baskets of white gladioli , carnations and snap- dragons. Miss Emma Kaller of Patchogue , church organist , played the wedding marches and accom- panied the soloist , Gregory Sher- win of Blue Point. The bride , who was given in marriage by her father , wore a floor-length gown of white lace over taffeta. The fitted bodice had short sleeves and a round neck- line decorated with appliques of lace. The skirt was bouffant and had app liques of lace at the waist- line with a large bow in the back. She wore a crown of pearls with a full elbow-length veil of French illusion and carried an old-fash- ioned bouquet of white roses and step hanotis. Miss Margaret Wilshire of North Patchogue was maid-of-honor. She wore a ballerina-length gown of blue silk organza with a round neckline and short sleeves. Her head piece was a crown of blue pearl s with a short veil. She car- ried an old-fashioned bouquet of pink carnations. Stephen Davis of Lake Ron- konkoma was best man. Wayne Erickson of East Patchogue and Charles Seibert , Jr., of Lake Ron- konkoma were the ushers. Following the wedding ceremony, a reception for 50 guests was held in the Holbrook Hotel in Hol- brook where a buffet supper was served. The bride attended Bayport High School , and is employed b y Rollic , Inc., in Patchogue. The bridegroom graduated from Port Jefferson High School and is employed as a machinist at the Port Jefferson Metal Corporation. After a wedding trip to East Worcester , Mr. and Mrs. Olsen will make their home in Pat- chogue. Dr. Miller , a former village trustee , has been active in com- munity organizations since coming to Patchogue in 194G immediately following* his release from active duty after four years of World War II Army service during whi.h he achieved the rank of Captain.
