Continued on page 3 , this section North Bellport Cub Pack 265 Receives Charter, Cub Banner NORTH BELLPORT — The Hampton Avenue School auditorium was the scene of presentations to Cub Pack 265 at their second meet- ing on June 28. Anthony Costanzo, assistant Cubmaster , opened the meeting with a welcome to the 150 persons who attended. Theme for den disp lays were Treasurer Chest USA. Five Cub Scouts irom Den 4 , depicting* tne<s> Sp irit of 1776 , p lay ing fife and drum , marched up on the stage where the guests and Den Moth- ers were assembled. Everyons joined in the Pledge of Allegiance after which Claud Dis dressed as a French officer made a short speech in French. The presentation of a charter for Cub Pack 265 was made by Robert Sxvanson , nei g hborhood commissioner, to Mrs . George Lowe, president of Hamp ton Ave- nue Parent-Teacher Association , who sponsor the Cubs. Mrs. Lowe gave the charter to Cubmaster Al- fred Carman , who in turn gave the charter to Frank Rintoul , Sr. , institutional representative , for safekeeping. John F. Luchsinger made a pre- sentation of a g ift certificate for a Cub banner from Swezey and Newins. It will arrive in time to be used by them in the Jul y 4 parade in Patchogue. Fair , Dinner Today At Methodist Church REIMPORT — The annual Heli- port Methodist Church fair will start at 10 a. m. and run through 8 p. m. today on the church grounds. There will also be a tur- key dinner in the church hall from 5:S0 to 7:80 p. m. A large variet y of gifts , white elephant items , covered dishes , surprise packages , refreshments and recipes will be on sale , accord- ing to the co-chairmen , Mrs. James Hawkins , Mrs. Frederick I. New Schedule Set At Bell port Library Record Cr owd Sees Fireworks Display BELLPORT — The largest crowd ever to witness the an- nual Fourth of Jul y fireworks display turned out here Tues- day night. Thousands jammed the Bell- port dock , Osborn Park , the boat and automobile parking areas , nearby roads and adja- cent shoreline. Every side street in the dock area was lined with cars. They were married at First Methodist Church in Key West June 17. BROOKHAVEN — Beginning at 8 p. m. Wednesday, the public is invited to hear a lecture series at the Brookhaven-South Haven Presbyterian Church on the three succeeding Wednesdays of July, meeting in the church. The series will be offered by the minister of the church , the Rev . Charles A. Kellogg, and is intended for adults. The first lecture will deal with the making of the Bible, tracing its history from the earliest Greek and Hebrew manuscripts to th° most recent translations. Questions as to the nature of Biblical in- spiration and the authority of the Bible in Reformed Church prac- tice will be considered. The second lecture , Jul y 19 , will deal specifically with the Protes- tant Reformation , discussing the religious and cultural factors lead- I ing to reform , a review of the course of the Reformation on the Continent and in England , the Puritan movement in America. The contributions of Luther , Calvin , Zwingli , Knox and others to re- form will be taken up, as well as the Counter-Reformation, which began with the Council of Trent. The third lecture , July 26 , will rapidly trace the course of Old Testament history, beginning with the pre-historieal material in the first 11 chapters of Genesis, then forward through the patriarchal period , Moses and the exodus from Egypt , the periods of the judges, the united kingdom, the divided kingdom , exile in Babylon , restor- ation under the Persians , the Mac- edonian and Maccabbean episodes , the Roman domination until 70 A.D. The minister plans to lecture for approximatel y 45 minutes on each Wednesday, followed by a brief period for questions and discus- sion.
