BY GEORGE HORST Congratulations to the three men wno have just eomp-eted , suc- cessfully, their six month s ' pro- hationaiy period — and also 1 wish to extend good luck to the five new members who started theirs on Jul y 1. Victor Digilio made it home and surprised us by being present at our chicken roast. Vic is in the service and stationed way out in Oklahoma . Another of our men , William Buckley, who is in the service , came home and gave us all another surprise b y getting mar- ried. He married Rita Saporito , whose father is well known as the \Genial Host of Medford Farms \ and is also one of our fire police. Bill and Rita have been going together for some time. The sur- piise was that they went and did it now. A big congratulation and the best of luck from the entire department. Our band traveled to Farming- dale last Saturday for their First Suffolk-Nassau Drum Corps As- sociation competition of the sea- son. They placed third in their division. The kids have worked hard during the \ off\ season and this work reflects the nice show- ing they made. And then there is (he band committee — the men who guide the gioup. These men are unsung and hard working. They have the task of running our musical unit. Bert Ellis , Bill Pedrick and Joe Schauer — stand up and receive the recognition you deserve. We had one brush fire last Sunday, during the showers around noon. It had been burning for some time , but was kept from becoming threatening b y the heavy showers. This is the first fire for the month of July. It has been a good start , so let' s all try to remain cautious about burning and to always be very fcMtiiiiiiiiiimiii miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiniiiiim I WALTER FRYER SAYS ... ^^ __ , nw —dfcowJJ ¦ ¦ J* M iJ^^^BW»ti-iy> ^» , - * o»-* , -* -W) j WELCOME • STOP • BROWSE ^^OIF I 25 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE . . . _ j !fgPL . .. 5 YEARS SAME LOCATION Jjfjtm W WfamT 1 '56 PLYMOUTH 2-DOOR , R&H.
