Reading of a letter from the Center Moriches Board of Educa- tion by Board Chairman Haiold Chapman touched off flurries oi heated debate on the floor. The letter , one of five bent to school districts in the area , asked the East Moiiches Boarel to g ive it dew on a possible stud y of school district reorganization . While the majorit y of residents at the meeting w ere obviousl y op- posed to a positive rep ly to the Center Moriches query, several floor members urged that the gen- eral implications of such a study be examined at the meeting. Supeivising Piinci pal of East Moiiches School , Ilany W. Huson , delivered a report on the possible results of a stud y as exp lained to him by Mr. Ormsby. Broadly speaking, the study would ex- amine problems in the areas of curriculum , school housing needs transp ortation and finances , Mr. Ormsby was reported to have told the speaker. Assuming a favor- able disposition to the study, committees of five or six mem- bers from each school district would meet in joint session to agree on potential needs of the* area ' s schools. After the agreement had been reached on the needs , Mr. Ormsby told Mr. Huson , an appointmen t would be made with state officials for presentation of the body ' s find- ings. The committee- would then return to their individual districts and report. In due time , th\ state would send its recommendations on reorganization to the joint bod y. If the d'stiict.s approved the state ' s recommendations , Mr. Hu- son reported , centi alization or consolidation would result . A motion made by Merwin Lane that District 34 forward a nega- tive reply to the Center Moriches query was then overwhelming ly passed by a show of hands. Commenting- fu rther on the East Moriches position , board member Conrad Alden remarked: \Home rule would be lost with- out compensating- educational ad- \antage in a school l eorganiza- tion. \ Other business at the meeting v/as the approval of Arthur Lane ' s petition to succeed himself as a board member. Write-in votes were cast as follows : 10 for Her- bert Jversen , 2 for William Mor- rison and one apiece for Michael Helfant , Alfred Mickley and Mrs. Paul Vosg-anian. Passage of a motion for a spe- cial meeting- to discuss the pur- chase of about three acres 1 of ad- jacent land for possible expansion concluded the business. The score was 13-12. Local 237 and Watts Plumbing- were idle. Sybeile ' s victory over faltering - Lyons raised the Carpetmen lead to 2' ^ games in the league pen- nant race. The win was the second in thiee staits for Bratisax whip' Johnny Leo , the first of two L yons pitchers , was the loser. Bratisax lost his chance for a no-hitter in the third inning when Lyons scored their onl y run. Clint limes walked and came all the way around to score on Dick Clark' s tri p le down the right field line. Only four others reached base on Bratisax , three on walks and one on an error. A four-iun rally in the first inning clinched the game for Sy- behe as the Carpetmen added an- ot her in the fourth and five more in the fifth. George Zim 'inghaus again led the attack with three hits including his third triple and { atted across four runs to run his total to 15. Frank Zimling haus walked to open the game and took second on a wi.d pitch. He scored on the tri ple of his brother Bernie , who held third on Mike Savino ' s infield hit. Both men scored on George ' s three-bagger to right center field, the latter scoring on another wild pitch . With one out in the fourth Fred Zim linghaus sing led. He was sac- lificed to second by Mike Ranieri and scored on another sing le by Bratisax. Five more runs crossed the p late for Sybelle in the fifth as they finished their scoring in this round . Bernie Zimling haus was hit by a p itched ball and brother Kenny walked. Bernie stole third to be in posi- tion to score when Pedro Suarez dropped Savino ' s liner. Kenny took third and the batter second to set the stage for George who sliced a sing le to left to score both run- ners. Brother Jerry also sing led and Ranieri doubled to deep cen- ter to send home both runners with the final Sybelle tallies of the night. Four Seasons built up a 8-1 lead after the first three innings and seemed on their way to an easy win over Patchogue Lumber. But the Lumbermen had other ideas. They scored four in the fourth and four more in the fifth to go ahead , 9-8. The Sportsmen went ahead again with two more in their half of the fifth . A walk , trip le by pitcher A'l Roecklein and a bunt sing ' e by Bill James scored the runs as Four Seasons added an- other in the sixth to carry an 11- 9 edge into the seventh . However , Charlie Taylor was safe on an error by Jan Porter snd scored ahead of Bob McGin- ness who be ' lted a home run over the left field fence to send the game into extra innings. In the extra inning Art Coleman led off with his third sing le and advanced to third on Ed Beebe ' s base hit and reaching second on the throw to third. Tay lor walked to fill the bases. After McGinness fanned for the first out , a fly ball to right by Clarence Maler scored Coleman for whaf the Lumbermen hoped to be the winning run. But Four Seasons refused to be discouraged and scored the win- ning run in their half. Hank Liers led off with a tri p le down the right field line and scored on man- ager Charlie Russo ' s single. Por- ter also tri pleti , but Russo was out at the p ^te. With the infield in and the outfield playing shallow , Gene Matty lifted a fly that forced Coleman back. Porter tagged up and scored the winning run with- out drawing a throw. The th ree-hour game was the longest ip ' ie Biz League this <S>season. It was also the hi g hest scoring game of the season .
