C. Church , Brown ' s Lane , Bellport , which wi'l be held July 27 , 28 , 29 , and 30 , have been completed. Advisor for the bazaar is the Rev. John M'arksamer , and the general chairman is Edmund Rowland. The feature award of the affair will be a 17 foot Laurel Fibcr- glass boat, complete with a 40 HP Evinrude motor , plus a boat trailer. In addition to the major award , there will be the following booths: Toy, blanket , electrical household app liances , doll , radio and p hono- grap h , lamp and luggage , clock and watch and picnic utensils . For the children there will be a penny p itching contest , a grab bag, and pony cart rides. Refresh- ments will be available. The bazaar will be open starting at 7 p. m., next Thursday and Friday and at 2 p. m. throug h the evening Julv 29 and 30. Jr. Sailing Classes Have 39 Partici pants BELLPORT — Kirk Roeser , the Bell port Bay Yacht Club' s juni or sailing instructor , reports that his classes now have 3' .) par- tici pants. His course of instruction includes dockside seamanship, ba- sic sailing and racing classes. Flag officers of the Junior Yacht Club were elected at a meeting held at the clubhouse July 11. They are as follows : Ja- mie Nelson , commodore ; Elizabeth Holland , vice commodore , Nicky Palevsky, rear commodore ; and Mary Ann Pendergast , secretary. Senior advisor to this group is Peter Paige. The July meeting of the general membership will be held at the Clubhouse at 8:30 p. m. tomorrow. Nurseryman S peaks Before Garden Club BELLPORT — The Bellport Garden Club met at the home of Mrs. William Wingerath of Acad- emy Lane July 11 and heard John Moore , who owns a nursery in Bellmore , speak on \Landscaping Design for Various Types of Homes. \ Homes which are located on plots 60 feet by 100 feet should use very slow growing material , such as all types of yews , slow growing evergreens , andromedas , and dwarf varieties of rhododen- drons , he said. All plantings , he added , should be given plenty of room . One can start with flower beds of 5 feet long and gradually increase them as the need arises. Ma' . Moore stressed the fact that it is very well in making founda- tion plantings or any flower beds to have a landscape design and plan for the particular need ol the property and to follow it in doing subsequent planting. 'He feels that in the back of the property flowering trees and bushes which would be best suited might be p lanted , such as, dog- wood , weep ing cherry, mimosa , crab apple , forsythia , wygelia and flowering almond. More on page 4 , this section Bellport Vamps Extinguish Car Fire ; Hold Tourney BELLPORT — On Saturday, a car fire was reported on Station Road in North Bellport. The car was badl y damaged. Sunday, a tournament for the fire department was held on Sta- tion Road. Three companies par- ticipated. Eight events made up the tournament , which were won by the Engine Company. Firemen and their families enjoyed re- freshments during the affair. AMBULANCE CALL BELLPORT — - Mrs. Harry F. There will be the usual ribbons and special prizes awarded to win- ners consisting of ribbons for first , second , third and fourth in the various classes as well as ribbons and special prizes for be.st puppy, best adult dog and for the one judged best of all in the match. Entries of all pure bred dogs are welcomed and those who have never exhibited their dogs before are especiall y invited. The club believes that there is many a household harboring a good pure bred dog that would like to know just how well that dog com- pares with others of its breed. The match show is the beginner ' s proving ground. Whether the dog wins or not there ' s the fun of showing and the match show is an easy starting point for the hes- itant and inexperienced exhibitor. Entry fee is $1.50 per dog with entries accepted from 12 noon to the time jud ging begins. Classes are for puppies 3 to 6 months old , 6 to !) and ' .) to 12 months. These will be divided if there are more than five to n class. Thei e will be a class for Novice dogs limited to those that have not won more than two points towards a championship and an O pen class for dojj s that have not won more than nine points.
