In the Kiddie Sa\ings p lay area ,, * the child can amuse itself with ] sciatcl pads , pencil and p lay money. The area is colorful and looks , like a real teller ' s area , and is comp lete with tellers ' windows , w oi king shehes and a wall safe that opens to disclose stacks of p la\ mone\ . The Kiddie Sa\ ings p lay area is to lie opened for public use at 3 p. in. tomonow din ing a cere- mony that will maik the first annu el sai \ of the opening of the Centeieach blanch. The branch is in the Dawn Estates Shopp ing Ci nter in Centereach. The ceiemony will be attended > by Suffolk County Federal Sav- ' nigs ' executives and community leaders. Also on hand to greet the large crowd expected to attend the opening of the Kiddie Savings play area will be Miss Wendy Barrie , the Holl ywood movie and TV star , and the widel y-known children ' s entertainer , Geor ge Creegan and his mag ic and pup- pets. Mr. Creegan ' s show for kid- dies will be put on six times , be- ginning at 3 p. m. in the parking area in front of Suffolk Count y Federal Savings ' Centereach branch. Medford Taxpayers Greet New Members MEDFORD — The Medford Taxpayers and Civic Association met Monday at the Mledford Hotel. Welcomed as new memlbers at this time were Mr. and Mrs. A. Sapor- ito , George Newman and Mrs. Tri- loar. A letter was received from Chief Inspector Alfred E. Koheir of the Suffolk County Police acknowled g- ing the group ' s request to extend the speed zone in Medford . The manding officer of the traffic and mandng offcer of the traffc and safet y bureau who will conduct a survey. The commandng officers of the fifth and sixth Precincts have been advised to take imme- diate action regarding the speed- ing in the business area of Med- ford , it was stated. Plans were made to show the film \Operation Abolition \ at the next meeting, which will be held at the Tremont Avenue School. \It is a timely controversial film and should be of interest to everyone. Sale' of Old Stump Road is currently lending hei collection of Civil War relics to the centennial display at the new Brookhaven Town Museum. Included in the collection are a war diary and a letter from 1862 , photogi aphs , books , patent papers and Women ' s shoes of the period. Most of the items belonged to Mis . Salg ' s giandfather . Brevet - Majoi Aaron Sager of Cortland , Mator Sager fought w ith the Tfith Remment Doubled iy ' s Brigade. The museum is located at the old Swan River Schoolhouse on Roe Avenue, East Patchogue , and is [ open Wednesday, Thursday, Fri- day and Saturday fiom 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. for the Summer months. Mrs. George P. Morse ' s son-in- law and daughter , Mr. and Mrs. John H. Muller of Shrew sbury, Mass.. became the parents of a daughter , Louise Ruth , July 17. Mrs. Morse has been with them over a month and returned home last week , bringing the oldest daughter , Mary Klee , with her. The rest of the family wil come for a prolonged visit next week. Mr. Mj uller is professor of phy- sics at the Worcester Pol ytechni- cal Institute. Next Monday Mrs. Morse ' s other daughter and her husband , Mr. and Mrs. Frederic L. Akwood of New York City, will also join them with their son , Fredeiick , Jr., The Akwoods , have just returned from a 2-week cruise en their boat , Arcturus , which took them to Cape Cod. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley W . Grod- eski of Newey Lane launched their new boat last Sunday at Tooker ' s boatyard in the presence of 35 guests. The 24 foot cruiser was christened , Dolphin , as Mrs. Grodeski broke a bottl e of cham- pagne over the bow . Refreshments v ere served later at the Grode- ski ' s home. The boat was built by Mr. Grodeski and his son , Phil- lip Shelton , in their spare time throughout the last twt) years. Miss Connie Davies of West Palm Beach , Fla., ariived last Sunday to spend a week at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Samuel Gelband of Mott Lane. The trip is a graduation present from her family. The William Corey family of Woodland Avenue celebrated Mr „ Corey ' s birthday on August 1. The highlight of the day was a ierearsal of an accoz-dion group consisting of 12 boys and girls who are studying accordion under Bill King of Patchogue. The group meets weekly at the homes of the participating children to rehearse for a proposed concert to be given at The Bavarian Inn in Lake Ronkonkoma around Christ- mas. Also celebrating his birthday August 1 was Frederick William Martin , Jr., of Rosedale. Frederick who is spending the Summer with his uncle and aunt , Mr. and Mrs . Milton Fellman , celebrated his thirteenth birthday with the fam- ily at the Better 'Ole. During the school year he attends the East- tern Military Academy in Cold Spring Hills neat Huntington , where he has finished his first year. In the reading program for chil- dren at the Free Brookhaven Lib- l ary last Monday Mrs. Donald Brown of Chapel Avenue read to the groupe of 13 younger children While Mrs. Jack Jensen of Fire- place Neck Road read to 12 chil- dren in the older group. The pro- gram will continue for two more Mondays. Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arvi d Friberg of South Country Road were Mrs. Friberg ' s parents , Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rocco from Cheshire , Conn. The George Deschamps family, who occupy he Alburgers ' house while the Alburgers are in Europe this Summer , had a weekend visit from Mrs. Deschamps ' mother , Mrs. E. W. Tabrizi of New York City. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Rappe of Hawkins Lane took a cruise with their two children , Eddie and Lynn last week on their cruiser \Cross- winds \ . They sailed to Greenport , Sag Harbor and Westneck Cove , Shelter Island. Part of the time they towed Eddie ' s boat along, while he ran it at other time s independently; the family uses the smaller craft for water skiing.
