The meetings arc* informal and the next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Moll y Kennedv on Wood Road , August 2S. * * * Mid shipman 1 c Donald Fred- lev of Hammond , Ind., spent sew- ing confined there for about two weeks. Mr . Takats was severely injured in a fall from his garage which he was building. His right elbow was broken and an opera- tion was performed on it to re- move a chipped bone. He also re- ceived a bad cut on the head , which required stitches. Steve , an ardent bowling fan , said that he- is still not ready to throw awa y his bowl- ing ball. He is improving nicel y. The Secret Pal Club were guests at a dessert card party at the home of Mrs. George Kennedy, Sr., of Wood Road on August 2. The Ladies ' Auxiliary of the Centereach Fire Department will hold its regular meeting Monday night instead of August 21. The meeting has been moved up one week because of a firemen ' s pa- rade in Hagerman that ni g ht , which the firemen and auxiliary will attend. The Tordik - Diederich - Duffield Post , VFW 4927 and its Lad i es ' Auxiliary are holding a Beat-Nick party August 20 , instead of the barbecue , which had been p lanned. Music will be furnished by an Off- Beat band and games and dancing are on the program. Committee in charge is Ral p h (Left y) Clark and Robert McGlone for the post and Mrs. Gertrude Ferro for the auxiliary. Members of the post and the auxiliary enjoyed a beach party at West Meadow Beach , July 30. The second annual picnic of the Knig hts of Columbus was held at the Town Recreation Park on Horseblock Road Sunday with a large gathering. Games were p lay- ed including the baby crawl con- test and the rolling pin throw. The Senior Patrol of Boy Scouts Troop No. 21 are building a Stock J car , to race at the Islip Speed- way. The car was donated by Lyons Ford in Coram and the sponsors for the boys are the Bonny ' s Rubbish of Centereach and Bailey ' s Chevron Service Sta- tion of Selden. Axel Anderson has been asked to drive the car. The car is nearly comp leted , the boys are waiting for special parts and their pet project will be ready to go .
