Report Due On Channel Survey Of Local Bays Brookhaven Town Supervisor August Stout , Jr., has received a report from the New York Dis- trict of the U.S. Army Engineers in answer to his request for their cooperation in widening and deep- ening the Long Island Inracostal Waterway Channel , through Mor- iches Bay and Bell port Bay. The supervisor had received many complaints of conditions sur- rounding numerous buoys in the channel. It was his thought that the Army Engineers could work out this project at the same time they will be working on the dredging and dune rebuilding pro- ject at the Moriehe. - , Inlet , tor which the Suffolk County Board of Supervisors recently appropri- ated $780 , 000 under a State of New York contract. The chief of the Operations Division of the Army Engineers has advised Mr. Stout that a \ condition survey \ of the specific locations in the infracostal Water- way Channel will be completed this month . Depending on the re- sults of the survey, a request for maintenance dredging funds and a dredgig contract will be schedul- ed b y the Ai'my Engineers , *\o re- store the project depth and width. As f or the Moriches Inlet pro- ject , the supervisor has been as- sured that when the Department of the Army permit for the dredg- ing under the State of N< w York contract is requested , prompt ac- tion will be taken in issuing tin s permit, so the project can be ex- pedited.
