Holtsville & Farmingville Mrs. Eleanor Burcaw—SElden 2-8848 ANNEX KINDERGARTEN Last Thursday at 2 p. m., Ro- bert Giainbattista welcomed near- ly - '100 new kindergarten students and their paients to the new dis- trict Annex Kindergarten o n Farm-to-Market Road , where they were taken on a tour of the new building on the site of the old Vet- ter Farm. Mr. Giambattista pointed out the specific facilities incorporated in the building to provide the ut- most in comfort , safe t y, and prac- ticalit y in the new three-room school house. lie later addressed the children in an effort to make easier their first day of school. Mrs . Eileen Kuhn , president of the Farmingville-Holtsville Pa rent- Teacher Association , spoke to the parents and introduced Mrs. Leo Hunsberge r and Mrs. Anthony G'iglio . who will assist the teachers with the children that first, day of school. Teachers of the three kin- dergarten sections are Mrs. John Niblock , Mrs . Harriet Schwartz , and Miss Carol Federici. Mrs. Schwartz is new to the Sachem System. CIVIC TAX PAYERS ASSOC. For some time the Farming- ville-Holtsville Tax Payers Assoc- iation has been gathering data on planned growth for our community. On August 29 Mesdames Richard Censak , John Plonski and Ray- mond Burcaw met with Howard Quinn of the Planning Board in Patchogue. This was done at the suggestion of Mrs. Koshland j f Bellport. The association invites all interested groups in the Sa- chem School District to join them in this endeavor. The next meeting of the association will be held at 8:30 ji . m.. tomorrow at the Far- mingville Firehouse. i PTA MEETING The Parent-Teacher association will hold their first meeting of the season at 8 p. m. Wednesday at the Waverl y Avenue School , Holts- ville. Topics under discussion will be , \Whv are you needed at your PTA?\ ' \How ' the parent and child benefit from the organia- tion. \ and a discussion concerning the PTA magaine. There will also be time alloted for the parents to visit with their children ' s teachers in the class- room. SCOUT NEWS Boy Scout Troop 80 will com- mence their 1901-1902 season. 7 p. m. Tuesday at the Waverly Avenue School. All boys in Holts- ville and Farmingville age 11 and up are invited to join the troop. Girl Scouts of Troop 51 had a camp-out at the home of their lea- der , Mrs. Herman De Castro of Starling Place , Farmingville at which they cooked three meals out of doors. At their council fire they entertained with songs and skits. The following girls attended: Gail Alver , Mary Frances Alver , An- drea Reilly, Lorraine Reill y, Cathy I Catalano , Lorraine Crawford , Iv- ette Santiago , Doreen Brill , Marie Brill , Barbara Ginas , Janice \Lyle and Linda Cohen. Also present were their leader. Mrs. Ida De Castro , and daughter , Stella , and Mrs. Arlene Crawford and chil- dren , Richard and Linda. The group was assisted b y Life Scout Arthur De Castro. George Forstel , cubmaster of Cub Scout Pack 80 , is busily en- gaged in drillin g - his troop in the art of marching, getting them ready for the parade for the dedi- cation of the new Farmingville I' ostoffice. After the drilling, Mr. Forstel stated , the Fall schedule of den meetings will commence 7:30 p. m. Monday at the Waverl y Avenue School. Pack night will be the last Monday of each month. Meetings of the pack were pre- viously held at the Lynvvood Ave- nue School , but because it was necessary to install a classroom in the gymnasium , the Waverl y Avenue School must be used in- stead. Arthur Meyer is assistant cub- master of the pack. ^' : £ z ' f Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Tinjin , of Portion Road. Holtsville . are back from their vacation in upstate New York. Guest of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Marrone of 29 Lenore Lane last weekend was John Duffy of Brook- lyn. Mr. Duffy, brother of Mrs. Marrone , has recently returned home after a tour of duty with the National Guard during which he was stationed at Fort Jackson , S. C. Mrs. Max Heckel of Oakcrest Avenue, Farmingville , flew from Idlewild Airport last Monday on an extended visit to her son-in- law and daug hter , Mr. and Mrs. Beyer of Andernach , Germany. She arrived Tuesday morning. Mrs. Lawrence Howell of Han- rahan Avenue is a patient at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in East Patchogue. Charles Gallina of 54 Starling Place , Farmingville , was a guest- of-honor at a birthday party, given b y Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sardone. Mrs. Martin Ragl of Jamaica Avenue is a patient at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital. August 24 , Herman De Castro was sworn into the U. S. National Guard , Co. C, 1st Medium Tank Battalion , 142nd Armory, Barton Avenue. Patchogue. Mr. De Cas- tro , who lives with his family on Starling Place is scoutmaster of Troop 80 , BSA.
