Activities of Interest in Patchogue The DYWYK Club of the Pat- chogue Methodist Church will meet at 8 p. m., Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clare Wicks on Jennings Avenue. Mr. and Mrs. John Goodale are co- hosts. Miss Joan Pagel of 36 North Summit Avenue has returned to St. John ' s Episcopal Hosp ital School of Nursing after spending two weeks in Milwaukee , Wis. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Arabia and daughter , Jo-Ann , of 10 Gibbons Street and Billy Arabia of 24 Third Street returned home af- ter enjoying a vacation in Nia- gara Falls , Canada , Lake George , Wilmington. They also stopped at Rome to visit Mr. and Mrs. James Fol- ey, formerl y of Patchogue. * The first Fall meeting of the Patchogue unit of the Home Ex- tension Service will be held Tues- day in the Four Sisters Commu- nity Center. Mrs. Mary Pasfield , chairman , has announced that a short business meeting will be held at 11 a. m. At 1 p. m. Rall y day and a tea will be held. All members are invited and al- so anyone interested in joining the unit. Guests are welcome. The Senior Ladies ' Aid Society of Emanuel Lutheran Church will hold its first meeting of the Fall season at 1:30 p. m. Wednesday in the parish hall. All mite boxes are to be returned at this time. J., and daughter, Carol , were recent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bamberger and sons , David and Michael , of West Lakewood Street. They enjoyed boating, swimming and si g htseeing. Bernard Cedar , son of Mr. and Mrs. Sid Cedar and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Feinberg of 282 Washington Avenue , was a guest of Mr. and Mrs. T. Markoe Robertson at a party given Au- gust 31 at their estate , Wyndcrot , in Southampton. Mrs. H. A. von Glahn has re- turned to her home on Ave ry Ave- nue accompanied by her son-in- law and daughter , Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Austin, and family, whom she recentl y visited in Oswego. While there Mrs. von Glahn at- tended the Summer commencement of State University of New York. College of Education , at Oswego on August 26 in Mary V. Lee Hall at which time Mrs. Austin received her master of science de- gree. Mrs. Austin is a graduate of Patchogue High School , class of 1938. and also of New York State College for Teachers at Buffalo. She is presently a mem- ber of the faculty of the Hanni- bal Central School System at Hannibal. Mr. and Mrs. Austin and son , Stuart , returned to their home August 28 while their daugh- ter . Miss Judith , , remained for a visit with her grandmother. She also visited friends in Center Mor- iches. A board meeting of Sisterhood of Temple Beth El , Patchogue. was held recently at the home of Mrs. Leonard Engel , 3 25 Roc Boulevard , East. Plans were made for the September meeting which will be held at the temple , Sep- tember 14 when The Lantern Play- ers of Massapequa will provide the entertainment. Mrs. Lorna Antoni- ni of Patchogue, a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences , announced this week the founding of an organization lo \instill the cultural love of nruric and dancing \ in children throug h- out the county. The organization , known as the GAJR Family Ballet of Suffolk County, will be comprised of out- standing students in the field of ballet under tire age of 15. The group, which is a non-profit or- ganization , plans a minimum of two annual ballet performances. The GAJR Family Ballet will op- erate under the directorship of Mrs. Antonini , who will donate her services , and a 10-member \ olunteer executive committee. Any child under the age of 15 who is a regular student in a re- gistered dance studio will be el- igible for an audition in the GAJR Family Ballet. The first auditions have been scheduled for September Hi at 3:30 p. m. and Sep tember 17 at 3 p. m. at 31 West Main Street , Patchogue. EAST MORICHES — Glass from broken eyeglasses was re- moved Monday from an eye of a Bell port man who was a passen- ger in a car involved in an acci- dent here on Montauk Hig hway. The man , Michael D'Agostino , 31 , of 741 Bayview Avenue , had the g lass removed by Dr. Frank P. Calabro at Bayview Hospital , Mastic Beach. According to Fifth Precinct police records , the accident occur- red as his wife , Maria , 30 , was driving their car west on the hi gh- way at about 4:10 a. rn. Monday. Mrs. D'A gostino told police , ac- cording to police , that , because of heavy fog, she failed to make the turn about 800 feet west of Culver Lane , hit two steel barrier posts and struck the northwest corner of the garage of F. D. Anton & Sons, Inc. Police said that Mr. D'Agos- tino ' s head was thrown forward against the dash board and his eyeg lasses were shattered. Patrol- man Walter Haase investi gated. Glass Is Removed From Man ' s Eye After Car Crash A fire gutted the interior of a five-room wooden house at 414 Woodside Avenue , North Patch- ogue , Saturday afternoon , accord- ing to the records of the North Patchogue Fire Department. The owner of the house is Vic- tor Leoncavallo of Brooklyn. Fire- men said there was no one in the house when the lire broke out. Exact cause of the fire is undeter- mined. Sixt y-three men fought the fire under the direction of Chief Fran- cis Gillette. The alarm was turned in at 5:10 p. m. b y an unidentified person. Patrolman Frank Magliu- lo was dispatched to the fire from the Fifth Precinct. Fire Guts NP House ; No One in Structure The Rosary Alta r Society of St. Francis de Sales R. C. Church in Patchogue will hold its annual pa- rish card part y in St. Francis de Sales hall at 8 p. m. September 15. The entire proceeds will be donat- ed to the St. Francis de Sales School Building fund. The public is welcome to attend. The parishioners of St. Francis have pooled their supply of trad- ing stamps obtained from local stores and received \Very Special Award s \ consisting of an RCA 19 inch portable television ; an RCA all transistor deluxe person- al radio , four piece silver coffee service and a complete seven piece set of corning wiare cookware.
