Officiating at the sei vices was the Rev. Mathew Wisniewski of Sk John ' s R. C. Church. Inter- ment was in Hol y Sepulchre Cemetery. Police said John D. Anderson of 3216 Cortel you Road , Brookl yn , was the driver of the vehicle which struck the boy on Montauk Hie-hwav about 120 feet west of Chichester Avenue. According to po ice , Mr. Anderson tokl them he was tra\ oiling west on the hi gh- way at between 10 to 15 miles- per hour , heard an imp\ct ag' .inct his car and saw a child l ying in the street about 10:55 a. m. Police said the- boy was crossing from the south side to the north side of the highway when the accident ceeutred. Both the boy and the vehicl e had been removed from the highway by the time the po- lice arrived , police said. i he youngster was treated at tho Moriches Medical Group by Di ' . Adol ph J. Stampfl and then taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospita l , East Patchogue. where hospital authorities said he had suffered a fractured skull. Dr. Frederick Weinberg did an autop- sy after the boy died later Satur- day. Patrolman Walter Haase inves- tigated the accident and Fifth Squad Detectives Kenneth Low- den and Wallace Nulty were call- ed to the scene. Born March 14 , 195(5 in Silver- Creek , the boy had been with his famil y here for three weeks. He was enrolled in the kindergarten at the elementary school. Surviving are his parents , Mr. and Mr.s. Russell , Sr. ; one broth- er. Names Committees MASTIC BEACH — At a special board of directors meeting of the Mastic Beach Property Owners Association , held Saturday at the club- house on Neighborhood Road here, Walter Werner , recently installed president of the association , named his newly-formed committees for the H)C>l-62 season. Serving as tho association ' s police chief will be Frank Vope- lak , with William Ramberg as dock commissioner. Beach 1, including the conces- sion building and equi pment , will be under the management of James Venables as chairman , as- sisted by James O'Reill y. Beach 4 will be under the man- agement of Herman Hausman , chairman , assisted by Chester Dietz and Edward Broderick . Beach 5 , including the conces- sion building and equipment , will be managed by John Yaeger as chairman , with Fred Traxel and William Vopelak. Beach 10 , Donald Parker , chair- man , to be assisted b y Joseph Meshenberg. The association ' s committee-at- large will consist of Salvadore Gonzalez , Joseph O'Connell and Frank Vopelak. Audit and control and budget will have Mrs. Lee Ramberg as chairman , with Mrs. Mildred Luc- chese , Paul Presta and Richard Brennan also serving on the com- mittee. Moriches Vamps Build Training Arch CENTER MORICHES— Members of the Center Mori- ches Fire Department Fire- matics Drill Team have com- p leted work on a 21-foot high arch on Clinton Street , behind the firehouse. The arch , built to the speci- fications of the New York State Volunteer Firemen ' s As- sociation , will be used by the team for ladder climbing prac- tice in the evenings and on weekends. Prior to the con- struction of the arch by team members , ladder-c limbing practice was conducted on near-by buildings. The fire department was al- so reported interested in lo- cating: a tract of land suitable for the construction of a com- petition arch for use in fire- matic drills. Summer Home In Calverton Site of 4 Fires CALVERTON —Fifth S quad detectives are investigating the setting of four fires September (i or 7 in the Summer home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schwicardi on Highway Drive in Peconic Es- tates. The Manorville Fire Depart- ment put out the fires. Detective John Drew , who is on the case , said two fires were set in the living room and two in the kitchen , where a small hole was burned through the floor in front of the refrigerator. Another fiie in the kitchen was set on the table. In both cases papers were used , police said. An old straw beach hat was also used. Det. Drew said tests are being made at the police lab to deter- mine what fluid was used to start a fire in an ash tray on a coffee table in the living room. The second fire in the room was started , he said , with papeis placed on a table. Police said entry to the hoiw in a remote area was gained b y foicing a kitchen door on the soutn side of the four-ioom. buildinir . Mrs. Schwicardi discovered the fire about 7 p. m. St ptember 7 as she appioachea the house in a car and saw flames through the win- dows , her son said from the family home in Flushing. She contacted Fifth Precinct police. Patrolman Fletcher A.
