Isli p ' s GOP Women Set Operation Alert ISLIP—Over 500 Isli p women Republican and Independent vot- ers , have banded together in \Op- eration Alert\ , a telep hone net- work which can carry a message from one end of Islip Town to the other in an hour. \Operation \Alert\ is headed b y Mrs. Miriam Anzell , Islip Town Republican Committee sec- retary. Mrs. Anzell explained the operation this way: Each of the 10 women of the \head quarters cadre \ is armed ' with an Operation Alert Card , on which she lists four other members. Each of the 40 women then enlists four oth- ers , who in turn enlist four oth- ers. The \Operation Alert\ re- cruitment drive is now in its fourth \ wave , \ with 502 women signed up. Although test runs have proved the system works , the first field problem for \Operation Alert \ , will be a drive for voter regis- tration. \Operation Alert\ , Mrs. Anzell said , is in addition to a 40 phone battery which will op- erate from Republican Head quar- ters in Bay Shore during the fi- nal phases of the campaign. The platform divides its points under seven main headings aftei stating that \Your ri ght to determine your future and what is done with your money is our mandate for a more vigorous government. . A gov ninienl which will insure the maximum effective use of every tax dollar. \ The seven points are Fresh Vigorous Leadershi p; R\duced Taxes ; Balanced Zoning; Recrea- tional Facilities; Industry ; Planned Sanitation Program and Fine Roads. The Town GOP platform fol- lows : Preamble Home rule ;ind low«:r taxes is the sworn dedication of your Brookhaven Republican Party. Your ri ght to determine your future ari d what is done with youi money is our mandate for a more vigorous govcnrmenl. ... A gov- ernment which will insure the maximum effective use of every tax dollar. In older to achieve these ends. We the Republican Party, p ledge ourselve. -i to provide: 1. —Fresh , Vigorous Leadership A leadershi p which will promote sound , efficient government and eliminate costl y waste. A leadership which is concerned solely with the needs and wants of the people of Brookhaven Town. A leadershi p which represents the thinking man and which wil' not knuckle under to the bureau- cratic , dictatorial powers now present in County Government. A leadership which will elimi- nate thousands of dollars of un- necessary payroll expense , a pay- ioil which has doubled since the Democrats assuni\d o f f i c e in l!U;i) !!! 2. —Reduced Taxes The present administration is now u-ing a method to increase Town income which we Republi - cans like to ca 'l \The Democrat! • Reassessment Tax Boost\ , where- b y they claim to lower the tax rate but Whopping ly Increase the assessment va ' ues. This practice is hypocritical and unfair. The onl y way to reduce taxes is to actuall y lower the amount of money you , the People pay out of your pocket every year . This Your Republican Candidates Will Do! 3. —Balanced Zoning A sen. - ibie approach to zoning which will protect residential areas yet will encourage desirabV industry to locate throughout the Townshi p. This will provide a bioader base for the stabilization of Taxes. 1. —Recreational Facilities Long Island has long been con- sidered one of the world' s greatest p laygrounds. Brookhaven must be a leader in providing the finest recreational facilities for all its citizens. We , the Republican Party, believe that the existing facilities should be utilized to the fullest extent Defore any further expenditures are made. We also believe that the recrea- tional facilities , paid for by you. the taxpayers of Brookhaven, should be for you. the people of the Town of Brookhaven. 5. —Industry We are dedicated to the vital task of attracting and keepintr desirable industry, in order to pro- vide job opportunities closer to home and create a health y pros- perous economy. 6. —Planned Sanitation Program We are dedicated to providin g the best health facilities for you the peop le of the largest townshi p in the state of New York. With the population explosion occurring, we will concern ourselves with lhe health of all our citizens and the elimination of pollution of our un- derground and bay wafers. 7. —Pine Roads A continuaiicn ol ' the excellent ¦ . 'dministration of our Highway de- partment under Republican leader- ship which inc ' udes a p lanned pro- gram for drainage , the use of -now fec.ee- > and the uti ' ization of all snow removal equi pment and perma nent road improvements . These goals cannot be fulfilled und er the present Democratic ad- luinist lation . even though the Hig hway Departmeni is under Re- publican leadershi p, because the Democrat! , powers have frustrat- ed all attempts of the Highway Department to inaugurate sound , orogre-sive programs. p 000( xxmxxxmmxxx)Qr^^ Z^^ JL AJF tf c dtttm4 T ^ j B ^ ^ SEE IT I TOMORROW FRID A Y , S EPTEMBER 29 , 198 1 j AT f I PATCHOGUE FORD I MEDFORD AVE.
