News of the Churches GENERAL ORGANIZATION The General Organization of the Baypor t-Blue Point High School will hold its annual Hal- loween party at 7:30 p. m. Oct- ober 31 in the cafeteria for the Senior High and in the old gym- nasium for the Junior High. Ste- p hen Alandell and several other facult y members will chaperone the Senior High party and James Browne will be in charge of the Junior Hig h. Refreshments will be served and prizes awarded for the best costumes. HARVEST DANCE Last Thursday night, the sopho- more class of the high school pre- sented its annual dance , the Har- vest Aloon Ball , in the cafeteria. Chairmen included Joan Ale Do- well , refreshments ; George Tvelia , publicity chairman; and Linda Gary, decorations. The cafeteria was decorated with pump kins , corn stalks and other objects denoting a Fall harvest with the autumn colors of orange , yellow , brown , red and green. The committee re- ported a good attendance of about 100 and music for dancing was by the Blue Angels dance band of Sayville. Chaperons were Mis- ses Barbara Fishbine and Irena Bordgiej, Dr. and Airs. Robert Whittsitt , Robert Dunnell , class advisor , and Robert Warden. CONFERENCE The Long Island Educational Secretaries conference and work- shop was held from 9 a. m. until 1 p. m. Friday at the Harbor Fields High School in Greenla wn . Those attending from the Bayport- Blue Point School system were : Airs. ELEMENTARY PTA The Elementary School PTA held their monthly meeting Octob- er 18. The guest speaker was Alfel- vin Mart , psychologist for the Bayport-Blue Point Schools. He outlined the testing and valuation program in the Elementary school system , kindergarten through sixth grade and he explained how these tests are of value to the teachers. There are 13 standardized objec- tive tests and he explained that they help the individual child. He also indicated that further tests could be held to compare our schools with other schools in the area and the Nation. An interest- ing question and answer period f or- lowed and there was a good at- tendance of parents. The PTA Executive Board of the Elementary School is starting its fund raising project with a movie \Three Ring Circus \ with Jerry Lewis which will be held Saturday at the Elementary school with two shows , one at 10 a. m. and the other at 1 p. m. Bayport-Bluepoint School News BAY SHORE—Loris Bannerman , harpist , will be guest soloist with the South Shore Symp hony Or- chestra at 3 , p. m. Sunday at the Bay Shore High School auditorium. The orchestra , now entering its seventeenth year , will again be under the leadershi p of Howard Lee , Koch of Brightwaters who also I founded the organization. The program will open with the \Phedre Overture \ by Alassenet , followed by AIiss Bannerman p lay- ing \Colorado Trail\ by Grandjan y and \Legend of the Elves \ by Renie. The orchestra will accom- pany the soloist in \The Suite from Childhood\ by McDonald. The program will conclude with the \Symp hony No. 1 in C Major \ by Bizet.
