Bayles Minuse announced today. Serving an area at Centereach of about one and one-half square miles , the Eastwood Company provides water and hydrant ser- vice to 1 , 452 customers. It has approximatley 17 miles of distribution mains. Its water supply is pi*ovided by two wells 95 feet in depth and a 500 , 000 gallon elevated storage tank. The Authorit y p lans , according to Chairman Minuse , to install a third well for added water supp ly at a co* ,t of $(50 , 000 , and it has appropnated an additional $15 , - 000 for other needed improve- ments. Customeis of the company v> ill be transfer* , ed to authonty rates in approximatel y three months , which will effect an over-all re- duction in water charges of about five per cent. The property will ultimatel y be integrated with its Smithtown Distribution system by a transmission line along Middle Country Road.
