Disarmament Lecture Set Wed. at Adelphi Extension SAYVILLE — \Disarmament—p lans and prospects \ will be the title of the second in the All-Colleg' Lecture Seminar series spon- sored b y Adelphi College-Suffolk Division here. W. A. Higginbotham , head of the instrumentation division of Brookhaven National Laboratory, will deliver the talk Wednesday, in the Junior High School auditori-3>-—¦ um at 8:15 p. m. Inventor of the Higginbotham Scaler Circuit , Mr. Higginbotham is a graduate of Williams College and attended Cornell University where he was a graduate student in p hysics. The author of many articles on electronic circuits and instruments , he is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, the American Association for the Ad- vancement of Science , the Institute of Radio Engineei*s and a member of the American Nuclear Society. Before coming to Brookhaven , Mr. Higginbotham was with the Massachusetts Institute of Tech- nology Radiation Lab., headed the electronics group of the Man- hattan district project at Los Ala- mos Lab., and was executive secretary to the Federation of American Scientists in Washing ton , D. C , a group he also served as chairman and member of the committees on security, disarma- ment and peaceful uses of atomic energy. The speaker has also been con- sultant to the U. S. government on defense problems , participant in the second Pugwash Conference on nuclear disarmament in April , 1958 , the sixth Conference in Mos- cow in December , 1960 , and was technical consultant to the U. S. delegation to the East-West con- ference on measures to reduce the danger of surprise attack held in Geneva in 1958. Succeeding lectures will cover areas such as racial prejudice , American value system and Ame- rica ' s world image. All will be held in the evening and will be open to the public.
