Barry, who was president in Village Anticipates Saving of $300 in New PELCO Contract Patchogue Village Mayor Rob- ert T. Waldbauer announced that Trustee Donald Schneider has en- tered into final negotiations with the Patchogue Electric Light Com- pany for a temporary contract foi street lights in the village. The mayor said the contract i-< expected to save the village ap- proximately $300 per month. \This will enable the village to attain increased lighting throug h- out the area , \ said Mayor Wald- bauer in a release. \PELCO has prepared a master plan on request of the board , which will study the proposal. \ The mayor reported that the Lake Street parking field is ex- pected to be completed by No- vember 24. Three public hearings were set by the board for November 27 at 8 p. m. in the village hall. The first hearing will be held on a proposal to prohibit parking on the north side of Academy Stteet from Rider Avenue to South Ocean Avenue. The second hearing will be held on a proposal to prohibit parking in the business distinct from 2 to 6 a. m. on both sides of Main Street between Atlantic and Bay Avenues; both sides of North and South Ocean Avenue from the Long Island Rail Road to Lake Street; both sides of Lake Street between Havens Avenue and North Ocean Avenue; both sides of Oak Street from North Ocean Avenue to Map le Avenue; both sides of Railroad Avenue fi om South Street to West Main Street; both sides of Church Street from South Ocean Avenue to Railroad Avenue; both sides of West Avenue from South Street to West Main Street; both sides of Havens Avenue from West Main to Lake Street; both sides of Terry Street from South Ocean Avenue to Rider Avenue , and the west side of Bay Avenue from East Main Street to ' Edwards Street. The third public hearing will be held on a proposal to prohibit parking on the south side of Lake Street from Havens Avenue to North Ocean Avenue. Mayor Waldbauer announced that the village will take title to the Terry Street parking field propert y December 1. Fifth Precinct Police Capt. Irving Weeks reported that th\ traffic problem on North Ocean Avenue has been relieved since the board' s recommendation that parking on the east side of North Ocean Avenue to Oak Street be prohibited. Capt Weeks said traf- fic congestion in the main busi- ness area has been reduced con- siderably with comp letion of two of the three village parking fields. Superintendent of Public Works , John Belzak , was complimented by the board for receiving a certifi - cate from the City and Village Public Work s School , which h« attended for three days last month at Cornell University. Fire Inspector Charles Doherty said that reported fire hazard - in homes are being investigated and necessary action is being taken to reduce the dange of fire. The board asked for periodic re- ports from him.
