The monthly meeting of the Yaphank Parent-Teacher Associa- tion was held last Tuesday night at the Charles E. Walters \ School. After the business meeting a panel discussion took p lace on the \Me- rits of a Fallout Shelter. \ The panel members that took part in the program attempted to define and exp lain radiation , radioactiv- ity and fallout and what the basic requirements are , for protection ? - 'inst them. This was not a civil defense program in the usual sense , the emphasis was placed on defining the problem and the in- dividual' s attempt to deal with it in his own home. Panel members were Andrew Hull , health p hysics department of Brookhaven National Laboratory ; John Walker , building contractor , and John Bergeron , biology de- partment , Brookhaven National Laboratory, who acted as modera- tor. There was a question and ans- wer period following the talks. Re- freshments were served after the meeting. Mr. Hirsch' s first grad° won the attendance award for the month. W OMEN'S ASSOCIATION The Women ' s Association of the Yaphank Presbyterian Church will hold a Christmas sale 11 a. m. to 4 p. m. December 2 in the social ball of the Church on Main Street. S.T.D.. retired bishop of Western Kansas , Wednesday will dedicate the new parish house and educational building of St. Paul' s Episcopal Church . Patchogue. A service of Solemn Evensong, beg inning at 7 p. m., will be followed by the dedication of the new building and various memorials . At 8:30 p. m. refi e hments will be served by the Episcopal Church- w omen of St. Paul s. The Rev . Richard C. Chapin, rector of St. Paul' s , announced last Sunday that December 6 , the Feast of St. Nicholas , was chosen for this occasion because it also marks the sevent y-seventh anni- versary of the dedication of the present church. Members and friends of the par- ish are underwriting the cost of construction throuu- h weekly of- ferings pledged over a three-year period. Total cost of the new building will be about $75, 000. A building fund campaign was conducted last year under the leadership of Edwin Bailey and William G. Puis. The parish building committee , whose chair- man is Nicholas Fleischmann , has had oversi ght over the construc- tion for the rector , churchwar- dens and vestry. Harry M. Randall Associates of Port Jefferson were the archi- tects . Builders were Matt Masem and Son of Patchogue , Frank Hotchkiss of Patchogue , and Davis Comfort Corporation of Port Jefferson. Professional fund raising counsel was provided by Warren Tucker Associates of Hampton Bays. The new building houses an enlarged parish hall , kitchen , meeting' room , storeroom , rector ' s study, five large classrooms , re- ligious articles and book shop, lrvatories , and a five-unit heat- ing plant. These facilities are used five days a week by the St. Paul' s-Tuller ' Parochial School , Sundays by the St. Paul' s Sunday School , and almost every evening bv parish organizations or com- munit y service groups.
