Man Accused of Fatal Shooting Oct. 26 RIVERHEAD — The retiring Novembei Grand Jury Friday re- fused to return a manslaughter indictment against Stanley Pash- w cz23 , of 155 Daisy Drive , Mastic Beach , who had been ac- cused of the fatal shooting of a friend last October. The jury ' s action clears Mr. Pashkewicz of any criminal char- ties in the death of William Zelius , L'() , who was killed in his home at GO Edgewater Drive , Mastic Beach , October 26. Mr. Pashkewicz was arrested by County Police after Mr. Zelius was found dying of a bullet wound in the head. Mr. Pashkewicz said he was handling a .38 calibre pis- tol owned by Mr. Zelius when the gun went off accidentally. Mr. Pashkewicz fled from the scene and threw the gun in Great South Bay, police said. He was p icked up later by police and charged with manslaughter in Biookhaven Town Justice Court. $1 , 405787 Allocated For Cty. Maintenance Act on Floyd Ex tension: RIVERHEAD — The Suffolk Board of Supervisors last week al- located a total of .$1 , 405 , 787 for maintenance of count> roads and bridges, snow removal and snow fences for count y roads , and plant- ing of trees and shrubs. The funds allocated by the board had been pre\ iousl y approved in the 1962 county budget , two weeks$> ago. A total of $1 , 099 , 255 was set aside for maintenance of county roads; $83 , 100 for maintenance of county owned bridges ; and $233 , 432 for snow removal , pur- chase and erection of snow fences , and planting of trees and shrubs along county highways. In other action , the board allo- cated another $85 , 000 for acquis- tion of rights-of-way for the building of the William Floyd Parkway Extension from the Sun- rise Highway north to the Mor- iches-Middle Island Road in Brook- haven Township, a total of 7.16 miles. The total funds now ear- marked for additional ri ghts-of- way is $185 , 000. The board also appropriated $40 , 000 more for preliminary en- gineering and surveys for con- struction of the William Floyd Parkway Extension north of Route 25 to Route 25A in Shoreham , a distance of 3.4 miles. A similai amount had previously been ap- proved for the surveys. Count> Executive H. Lee Denni- son said part of the northern ex- tension will run through propeity owned by the Biookhaven Nat- ional Laboratory, with no costs for purchase to the county. Mr . Dennison said construction will begin in the late Spring of next year after contracts ^ aie let. The county executive also le- vealed that plans are in the works for an over-pass at the intersec- tion of William Flovd Paikway and State Route 25 , the scene ot an accident in Decembei , 1960 in which the then Southold Supervisor Henry Tuthill was killed.
