REGISTERED JEWELER \£ $p) AMERICAN 6EM SOCIETY J NOTES ON NUPTIALS SINNIGER—RIPEL Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Lake Ronkonkoma was the scene of a Winter wedding at 12 noon Saturday when Miss Rosemary Karel Ri pel , daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Peter Ripel of Acorn Lane , Stony Brook , became the bride of Joseph Owen Sinniger , son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis S. Sin- niger of Harcourt Avenue , Smith- town. The Rev. William Gotwald officiated before the altar decora- ted with white chrysanthemums and white poinsettia. The reserved pews had bows of white sati n rib- bon and lily-of-the-valley. Richard Benson , church organ- ist , p layed the wedding music and accompanied the soloist , Mrs. Don- ald Gilzinger. The choir of Holy Cross , of which the bride was a member , also sang. The bride , who was given in marriage by her father , wore a gown of Chantilly lace made with a bouffant skirt and a fitted bod ice with long sleeves and a square scalloped neckline trimmed with sequins. Her full fingerti p veil of French illusion was attached to a crystal crown . She carried an old - fashioned bouquet of small and large chrysanthemums. Miss Annette Campbell of Mas- sapequa Park was maid-of-honor. The Misses Barbara and Karel Ripel of Stony Brook , sisters of the bride , were bridesmaids. Miss Campbell wore a cocktail-length gown of green velvet made with a bouffant skirt and a fitted bodice with three-quarter length sleeves , a scoop neckline and satin bands at the waistline. Her headpiece was a white fur halo and she car- ried an old-fashioned bouquet of white chrysanthemums and holly. The gowns worn by the brides- maids were fashioned like the maid-of-honor ' s but were Christ- mas red. They also wore white fur halos and had the same bouquets. Ronald Chamberlin of Lake Ronkonkoma was best man. Rob- ert McLaren of Smithtown and Richard Benske of Melville were the ushers. Following the wedding cere- mony, a reception for 275 guests was held in the church parlor of Holy Cross. When Mr. and Mrs. Sinniger re- turn from their wedding trip to Jamaica and Nassau , where they went by plane , they will make their hom e in Lawrenceville , N. J. The bride attended Freeport High School and graduated from Port Jefferson High School. She was employed by Hazeltine Elec- tronics in Plainview. The bridegroom is a graduate of Kings Park High School. He attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology and graduated from Brooklyn Pol ytechnic Institute where he also received his master ' s degre e in electronics. Church , in Patchogue. The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a gown of ivory peau de soie having long sleeve s and a full skirt terminating in a train. The bodice was embellished with Alencon lace. Her tiered veil was attached to a small crown of orange blossoms and she carried a cascade of orchids and rO'Ses. Miss Linda Petersen , sister of the bride , was the maid-of-honor. The bridesmaids were Miss Chris- tine TenHoopen , the bridegroom ' s sister , Mrs. Richard A. Cook of Norfolk , Va., and Mrs. Albert Trabold of Seaford. All the atten- dants wore dress-leng th sheaths ol turquoise de-Iustered satin , having panelled overskirts , and wore matching bows in their hair. They carried baskets of yellow and bronze chrysanthemums and grapes. John Walsh of Patchogue was the best man. The ushers were Charles Adams and James Haver- ty of Patchogue and Braden Mech- ley of Cincinnati. A reception for 125 guests was held at the Park Restaurant in Franklin Square. The couple have returned from a wedding trip to Miami Beach , Fla., and are residing in Kew Gar- dens. The bride is a graduate of Val- ley Stream Central High School and the Berkeley School in New York City. Cookies 1 cup shortening 1 cup sugar V_ cup sour milk 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 cups flour 1 teaspoon soda x /_ teaspoon salt 2 cups oatmeal (quick ) Cream sugar and shortening— sift flour , soda and salt—add to creamed mixture alternatel y with sour milk ; add vanilla then add oatmeal. Chill overnight or for several hours. Divide chilled dough in half— roll one part out thin to cover cookie sheet or large pan. Cover with apple butter or your favor- ite jam. Roll out second half and place over app le butter or jam. Bake in quick oven cut in squares.
