HOME EXTENSION The Lake Grove - Centereach Home Extension unit held its Christmas party and luncheon in the Wedgewood room of the Elk Hotel in Port Jefferson December 19 , with thirty-two ladies atten- ding. The committee , Mi*s. Kay l»urr anil Mrs . Marie Bailey, dis tributed the Christmas gifts which were placed in a large red box with a green ribbon. » Decorations were a large white Christmas tree and small bouquets of Christmas greens and colored balls on the tables. After the gifts were g iven out the committee put on a fashion show with the following members , Mesdames Clare Doyle , Marie Bailey, Lillian Krejnicky, Helen Farrugia , Fannie Gimourginas , Irma Moger , Eileen Goenner , Kay Burr and Ann Haunss modeling their fur stoles, coats and hats and wool dresses they had made this year in classes. PIONEER GIRLS On Thursday the Pioneer Girls , Pilgrem group, with their leaders , Mrs. Bea Abramsen , Mrs. Esther Moll , and assistant helpers , Mrs. Rose Ilaugli and Mrs. Grace Rain- ing, sang Christmas carols to the patients in the Smithtown General Hospital , after which they retur- ned to the Sunday School building of the First Congregational Church of New Village , where they held their Christmas party. The week before the group held their Encampment meeting at which the following girls received their badges: Kitchen badge — Linda Haugli , Eileen Nardiello , Eileen Rodeing, Karen Salvate , Kathy Watts. Two g irls received their Voyager Rank badges , Barbara McCuen and Karen Olsen. About 25 girls , 8 years old and in the third and fourth grades, are in this group. Mrs. Agnes Corey of Oak Street became a grandmother again last week when her son-in-law and daug hter , Mr. and Mrs. Frank Weick of Bay Shore , became the parents of a daug hter , Donna Lea. The couple have two other child- ren. The Secret Pal Club held their Christmas party by having dinner Thursday at Herbie ' s Restaurant in Lake Ronkonkoma. At this time secret pals were revealed and Christmas presents exchanged. Those attending ' were Mesdames Julius Hahn , Percy Peters , Alma Wendel , Foster Overton. Albert Reynolds , George Kennedy. The Ladies ' Auxiliary of the Centereach Fire Department held their regular meeting at the fire- house on December 18 with Mrs. Marie Connell , president , presid- ing. Sixty-one members were pres- ent. After the regular business , a Christmas party was held with Santa Claus , in the person of Mrs. Marie Bekuhrs , giving out the presents. The following refresh- ment committee , officers of the auxiliary, then served the ladies a Christmas supper. Mr. and Mrs. James Zipp of El- liot Avenue are parents of their second child , a daughter , Robin Edith , weighing 5 pounds , 1 ounce and born December 16 at Brook- haven Memorial Hospital. Little Robin must remain at the hospital until after Christmas or until she gains a few more pounds. The cou- ple have a son , Michael , one year old. Taxpayers in the local fire dis- trict will be voting on a $20 , 000 referendum for the purchase of a new ambulance for the emergency lelief squad on January 5. Voting will be from 7 to 10 p. m. in the firehouse. George Edward s of Elliot Ave- nue was rushed to Mather Memor- ial Hospital Thursday night and underwent an emergency appen- dectomy. Each class participated and the chorus sang Christmas carols. The following morning the kin- dergarten through Grades 2 pre- sented their Christmas program. Each class also participated with a short play or songs and Santa Claus (played by teacher Robert Luff) was a most welcome guest. Parents attended both programs. Roser of Maple Avenue , celebrated her second birthday Thursday with a family party. On December 18 Mr. and Mrs. Ernst Loher celebrated their wed- ding anniversary at their home on Coates Avenue with a family party. The South Holbrook Develop- ment Civic Association , Inc., will meet at 8:30 p. m. January 4 at the Civic Hall on Grundy Avenue. The Holbrook Republican Club , Inc., held its annual Christmas party and election of officers at the Communit y Hall on Patehogue Road , December 20. The following membei*s were present , Mesdames Krista Nicola , Marge Luchau , Bett y Jost , Marie Tictjen , Rudoph Klose , Rose Swe- zey, Edna Swezey, Charlotte Sor- enson , Edith Robertson , Doris Newkirk , Amelia Scanavin and Pastor Hofler . A short business meeting was followed by refresh- ments . The- Christmas part y usually held , was eliminated this year be- cause of the death of the Rev. Frederick Abel. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Emil Jost of Bell port Road on January 9. SCOUT NEW S Girl Scout Troop 75 last week decorated the Christmas tree in the parish house of St. Andrew ' s Episcopal Church. The girls also made candy candleholders for St. Andrew ' s Sunday school and Mrs. Wittman ' s Brownie troop. Plans are being made to attend a roller skating show during Christmas week and to go bowling. Boy Scout Troop 79 held their Christmas party at the Charles E. Walters School at their regular meeting. Twenty boys attended the party, who were supervised by their scoutmaster. Don Gardiner , and assistant , Robert Linker, as well as committeemen William Helves and George Eggert. The Rosary group met at the home of Mrs. LeRoy Spillett , Jr., on Gerard Road last Thursday night , to say the rosary for world neace. They will meet at the Hermann residence 7:30 tonight.
