Supers Praise Fellow B'dsmen Defeated at Polls RIVERHEAD — Last Thursda y at its final meetin g of 1961 , the Board of Su pervisors congratulat- ed two of its membership who went down to defeat. R o b e rt B ra d y o f Smithtown a nd August Stout , Jr. , of Brookhaven both Democrats , were ecgiatulat- ed by their fellow supervisors for \dedicated and faithful service. \ Observing the meeting weie their replacenu nts , Coun t y Shei iff Chaiies R. Dominy of Brookhaven and Ralph Osgood of Smithtown. In final business of the yeai , the board gave its approval to sal- ary inclement plan.s for the coun- ty police force and count y employ- es , which wore pioposed h y the hoard for inclusion in the 190:2 budget. B y r e soluti o n , the Bab ylon Lead- er , representing the Republican Party, and the R iveihead News- Review , representing the Demo- ciatic Party, were de s i g nat e d th e official county newspapers for 1 %2. The designation is worth over $50 , 000 to each paper foi p ublish i n g offi c ial noti ces , ad\ei- tising for bids , tax sales and other county bu siness. Later , County Executive H. Lee Dennison an- nounced the Democratic supei \ i- sors had designated the Smithtou n News as the l' .KJH official papei l epreseiiting the Democratic Pai- t y. The Smithtown News held the designation in 10(U. In other action , Geoige Stengel of Huntington was leappomted a a member of the three-man Suf- folk Civil Service Commission, to a term expiring May 31, l!in '2. His six-year term expired Sunday and Mr. Dennison. in announcing Mi. Stengel' s reappointment, said the brief term was made so as to have all terms expire May :> 1.
