When Victor John Yannacone , Jr., was a boy , he probably figured out how to have some of everything. Limitations do not sit easily in his design for living. Yannacone , a Patchogue attorney who essentially invented \ environmental law \ 10 years ago when he successfully litigated the case that banned DDT in this country, is now embarked on a crusade against Agent Orange and other dioxin- eontaminated h erbicides in a class action suit of unparalleled magnitude. Attorney for 28-y ear-old Paul Reuter- shan , Vietnam War veteran who died of stomach cancer in December and who maintained it was caused by his contact with Agent Orange , Yannacone has picked up his standard and swept into the fray like a knight on a white charger. Most men are merely ridiculous when they attempt to assume such a role. Yan- nacone , who fully intends to champ ion the cause of what he expects could be more than 40 , 000 veterans , was either born to the part or has conditioned himself so fVtrt*»/\nrtV»1 *F if io nn lrti*»rtoT\ o m orttla Via tltUlVUglUJ Ik XtJ *»VJ 11/llgVl «-» 11IU11UV AA^ assumes : it is part and parcei oi his philosophy . Talking with Yannacone reveals a man whose intellectual capacity is certainly exceptional but more because of the agility and creativity of his mind than from his hitting the jackpot in the gene pool . He has been called irascible , egotistical, bellicose and abrasive. It is easy to believe all of this yet he is also a man who can be wounded easily, but won 't let you know a barb found its mark; a man who is warm , friendly and possessed of a disarming sense of humor that includes himself ; a man who can be pragmatic and sentimental in the same sentence. This is not a paradox it is panache. According to Superintendent Richard Marks , the Seashore received an authorization of $5 , 000 , 000 for acquisition of acreage surrounding the present head n uarters on the Patchognp River . Mr. Marks said actual money for the acquisition of property is expected in October. Approximately six acres will be acquired , Marks said , with the 40 Lanes Bowling Alley , included in the original acquisition p lans , now exempted . Plans for the terminal area site call for a visitor center , outdoor exhibit area , ferry dock , food concession and outdoor p icnic areas. n/ r 1_~ _„ :*] iU 2 W. ^.M.^1. »»?V»irtV» io nnmind lVldlivS actiu Luc iiivmcj — wmv.ii i^> v-v.i»i»»« t3 from the Department of Interior which funds similar projects on a nationwide basis—will not come in a lump sum. In the meantime , Marks said , p lans are in the making to construct a dock at the present Seashore site off Laurel Street for a ferr v .
