T. Raynor, 31 ■Freeport, N. Y. BALDWIN We have been told that within the coming six months the present hos pital on Ocean avenue. In Freeport, will be discontinued and replaced b) the one in Hempstead. Just why Freeport is to be without hospital service is not known to us. We do re gret, however, the closing up, so soon after its opening, of an institu tion as useful as this has proven it self to have been. We are for a hos pital for the sou'thslde and as it is already established here, desire to see it remain. Hempstead, undoubt edly is an important village, but the r selection of a site there for a hospi- ! tal in the minds of many is not showing the villages along the south- side any preference and in addition ft is quite near the Mineola hospital. To reach Hempstead by rail from any village, say, Lynbrook to Amity- says he saw it was helping him so much he let her take some of it, and, to their great surprise, she improved wonder fully almost from the first dose. He told him that it was only a week’s time after she commenced to take the medicine until she could see aa well as ever and was able to return to school. It was not until after hundreds of snch remarkable cases had been treat ed by Dr. Barker that he was prevailed upon in the interest of humanity to al low the wonderful prescription to be put up so that every sufferer could nave it at a very small cost. The pub lic can now secure this prescription un der the name of Bloodine, at drug stores, or The Bloodine Laboratories, Boston, Mass., will supply a six weeks’ treatment (six bottles) tor $2.50; 50c a bottle, trial bottle and booklet, 10c. The Messenger congratulates the Smithville South Fire Co. on -its en trance into the ranks of fire fightersl in Nassau County. We expect to see the company go ahead and be on hand to fight fire or make a showing in parades and tournaments. The way to do this is by ’the members j having an unfailing interest in their company and in this instance there seems to be every reason why this interest should not be allowed to die out. CARSON SAYS Judge Gaynor seems to have walked into a peck of trouble in accenting accepting Mayor of Tammany’s nomination for Mayor New York City. Conundrum: Why should a Supreme Court Judge, earn ing $17,500 a year for practically the balance of his life, resign to become candidate for Mayor at a much less salary for but a period of fout\ years? The office of Mayor being one of con tinual strife and trouble for its occu pant, while that of Judge being a re spected and dignified office. BEDELL’S UNIVERSAL LINIMENT We will soon hear considerable dis cussion about who is to be our candidate for Village Presidency, and although there are plenty of names that might be mentioned to fill the office, yet the man who is to, fill it should be a good business man Who will have an eye to the business interests of the Village. I have heard mentioned the name of -John D. Gunning, and think he would make one of the best presidents this village could possibly get if he could only be persuaded to run.
